Oh man, I'm sure it's just an unpleasant bladder evacuation but I'm scared. I'm only 24 weeks tomorrow, and so far apart from a very early bleed this has been a straightforward pregnancy. I've been drinking lots of water today (bit of a health kick). The fluid was clear, didn't smell like wee but I've drunk so much water that could have the same effect. I'm going to ring mw first thing. There's not been any leakage since, I put a pad on after I ran to the loo.

Sounds like an unfortunate accident, your waters generally have an odour but you've done the right thing putting a pad on as you can see if you lose anything else and the midwives can use a litmus strip to check x

I asked the exact same question both times I've had my water break. With the second pregnancy, I kept a bottle of pH strips at home just so I could reassure myself whenever I thought I was leaking. Amniotic fluid has a pH of 7 to 7.5. Since the usual pH of the vagina is acidic, it just help put my mind at ease to have the pH strip not read basic.

In my experience, I kept leaking. As soon as I sat down, there'd be a bit of a gush until the baby's head "plugged the hole" again. The same when I stood up. I'm not sure what it would be like if it was just a little leak.

Keeping my fingers crossed that it was just an accident.

Yes, it's the only time in my life I am hoping that I did actually wet myself!! Still no more fluid at all but I will ring my mw first thing and see what she says. I'm fairly confident it's fine though. Fingers crossed.

Defo go and checked. I had this yesterday. It was fluid :( my baby seems happy and bouncing around in there but it can be very dangerous if you are not checked. I'm at home now on bed rest for at least the 2 weeks until I can be scanned.

I hope all is well and it wasn't your waters. X

I'm just waiting for the mw to phone me back now. I'm hoping they will ask me to come in and get checked. Did you feel totally normal apart from the fluid? No contractions or pain or anything?

Off to the hospital to get checked out thankfully. Fingers crossed all will be ok.

Good luck your waters have a sort of smell to them hun a almost medical smell it's weird you would know though :)
Sure it was an accident let us know how you got on

Yep totally normal huni. I'd just got out of the shower, was getting dressed and there it was, trickled down my leg and a little puddle on the floor. I didn't think to much of it at the time. I put a pad on and carried on with my day. When I next went yo the loo my pad and nickers were soaked and I had abit of blood. I started getting sharp cramps in my left side but I'm not sure if that was related.
Keep us posted huni xx

i started leaking slowly in my first pregnancy at around 31 weeks & thought it was urine. Dont assume anything!!! And I was trying to smell it too on a pad but I couldn't smell anything off that told me directly it was amniotic fluid.

Interesting re: test strips - PH. I was hoping there would be some thing so that the later my pregnancy got, I could test at home. I know I"m goign to be super paranoid about water leaking again & don't want to run to the hospital all the time. And there are now pads that detect amniotic fluid but around $30 for 3 pads!!!! I can't afford that.

Well, I got kept in overnight and have had steroid injections. I've not lost any more fluid but I've had tightenings and cramps, thankfully they seem to settling down I've had hardly any today. Hope this will be the end of it for now, he's far too small to come out now!!

Hope little ones stays put for you hun. Plenty of rest :)

Hope that is the end of it all! Stay in there little one!! Will be thinking of you xx
