My hv prescribed gaviscon infant today INCASE Lola has silent reflux as she just can't settle when flat on her back.but she then said "don't use with any other thickening agent so don't use infacol" but infacol isn't a thickening agent is it? I'm in two minds weather to try the gaviscon or not now coz i'm scared to be without the infacol lol xx

hi hun. They're not the same thing. I used both, no probs. Jx

hehehe - Jessica has been on gaviscon since she was 2 weeks old. It didn't work for her so the doc added omeprazole and carobel. Carobel IS a thickening agent and the doc was perfectly happy for us to use it with gaviscon. We have used infacole at odd occasions but didn't really need to once the meds got working.

We were told we could use infacole but that we probably wouldn't have to. I would suggest that if the Gavison isn't working then you go back to your doc and have a chat about other options. :)

I think you can use both but I've read that infacol can make reflux worse, I stopped my LO taking infacol and found her reflux, gagging etc was much improved
