Did you buy the dress you thought you would?

Just curious as to how many of you saw a dress in a magazine or online and ended up buying it?

I have some appointments booked and am totally open about the styles etc I will try on but I do have my favourites from the ones I have looked at - not expecting to even like any of them mind never mind buy them! I'll end up with something totally different I'm sure!

i knew just what i loved in my head, and i'd seen the different dress of the same style i wanted in magazines etc, but i hadn't chosen one, and i too was so open to trying on everything, as i didn't think this style would suit me. turns out, i love it! and my dress is just what a set out for :D x

I've only seen one dress I love, I've not tried any on yet because I know in 2 weeks I'll change my mind

I was determined I wanted an Alfred Angelo one but when I actually tried it on in the shop it looked awful, it just totally did not suit my figure at all!

The dress I actually got when the woman in the shop showed me it I was like ... errrr no its not really my type. But once I got it on it was amazing I had butterfly's in my tummy and I really didn't want to take it off.

I have tried hundreds and I mean hundreds of dresses on since buying 'my' dress and not one of them has come close to making me feel the way I do in that dress!! :D x

Oh my goodness, no! I went in with the following in mind for me:

And came out with this!!

All I kept saying was "I can't wear that, you can see all my hips and stuff" Well it was perfect!! I'm so glad I was made to try it on, the other one looked hideous!! My 'mentor' made me try it on to see what it was like and I wouldn't even put shoes on with it, I hated it so much on me.

I was gobsmacked that I could pull off the Benjamin Roberts one and it really made me feel amazing.

Definitely go in with an open mind!

I thought I wanted a very simple dress when I first started looking. The dress I loved and ended up wearing was this one.

I had seen a dress I really liked at a wedding fayre, I went to the shop to try it on thinking that would be the dress I would come home with. Instead I have ordered a beautiful custom made dress, I tried on one similar to what mine will be like and totally loved it! I can't wait to see mine when it is done and I LOVE the fact it will be a total one off design, the dress is made for me, I have picked the design, the fabrics, the lace, the detail will include my colour theme (in the beading)

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh I can't wait to wear it!

I looked online a lot to find dresses I liked and there was 3 that I loved loved loved, they were all a very similar style, then I found one of the three on Ebay and it was a total bargain that I had to buy it! And it suits me perfectly.

I got the complete opposite to what I wanted..................as soon as you put it on you'll know.......when the tears start flowing

xx

No, lol

I saw a dress in a magazine, it was in 2003/2004. Ivory with red trim and sparkles. I loved it. Then 2 years ago my parents friends daughter wore the same one and I cringed!

I'd also seen an ivory one with black embroidery in a magazine, not long after - and I've never seen it since, but I loved that one too.

Then I got one on ebay. It was hideous and just....nasty! So I sent it back.

Then I got another one, which isn't too different to the second dress I saw (with black embroidery) and has a few sparkles. That's what I'm wearing.

I tried it on and knew it was the one, but couldn't fasten it myself. So I tried it again the other day when my chief bridesmaid was over and I got all emotional and stuff.

I was quite open to ideas as I didn't really know what I wanted tbh. I love my dress though its gorgeous x

Well as you know I still don't have a dress! I have tried on so many and hated them all but there was one that was nothing like I wanted but as soon as I put it on, the tears started...but not mine! My mum and MOH were crying, saying how perfect it was but it just didn't feel right and I knew immediately that it wasn't the one despite their reactions. I guess what I'm trying to say is only you know what you want and its you who needs to get that special feeling when you put it on!

i went in with an idea and came out with something totally different

I saw mine online, knew I had to have it, went to the shop all the way down in portsmouth to try it on and I loved the style of it and the little jacket, but decided I didnt like it in white and red and asked could they change it to ivory and green, i waited 5 months for it, so was really worried it would come back and it wouldnt look nice, but thankfully it was fab! xx

My dress was different to the ones i saw online BUT it was THE dress i know as soon as i put it on x

I went into the shop determined to find a burgundy dress with a bit of ivory on. The lady asked me to try on an ivory dress with teal on it and.........I'm putting my deposit down on thursday lol.

It just felt so right when I had it on!

I bought the first dress i tried on, but i was contemplating buying another. I didn't realise until i got home that the dress i bought was one of the dresses i cut out of a mag and put in my wedding scrapbook!

So it was destined :)

I bought the dress I fell in love with in the very first wedding mag I bought when we'd got engaged! I saw the pic and just thought 'I want that dress!'. I tried it on in the shop and loved it instantly/

I didn't find any I liked when I tried them on, so designed my own!

I knew I wanted a strapless A line dress so the girl in the shop brought me 5 to try on and I bought the 1st one! It's a Benjamin Roberts 705. Wish I could wear it again! Or fit into it.....
