different size breast shields?

Has anyone tried a different size of breast shield when pumping? I have read that the average size that come with the pumps are not the correct size for all people...and it can make it so your breasts do not completely empty. I have fairly small breasts...however, I was told in the hospital that I had large nipples (I know TMI). So, I have noticed when I pump that my nipples are extremely sore, and the pump does not completely drain my breasts. So, I have ordered the larger breast shield. Anyone have any experience in this area??? I go back to work in a month and I desperately want to be able to continue to breast feed so I am looking into every possible option.

i'd not thought of this..wonder how we can determine our best size? i had to buy the large size in the plastic shields you can use when breast feeding - not pumps - as the small were painful.

I went to the Medela website and it gave some pointers on this. I'm not sure if I should have ordered bigger or smaller, but I ordered bigger (because they say it is according to nipple size not breast size). We'll see...I hope that it works.

I use 30's~ it gets out more milk for me.
