So heres my birth story ........

Baby Grace Marie was born on a saturday 23/02/13 at 22.08pm weighing 6lb 5oz!

Had a second sweep on friday and was straight away had a bloody show that was constantly coming out until saturday and i was also having irregular contractions. On saturday they started getting more regular and painful at between 2 and 4 minutes apart around 3pm so i phoned the labour ward at 4 and told them. They said to ring back in a hour and see if they were still the same, worse or less. They were a tiny bit worse so i rang back and said i was coming in and we left around 5pm. They told me they were busy and they would just send me home if i wernt in labour which made me feel like i was wasting there time! In the car on the way there they died off abit and i think that was partly because of what they said on the phone so i told my partner to keep driving past the hospital and see what happened while we were just driving. Well they came back so we headed off to the hospital and arrived about 6pm. They checked me about 6.15 and said i was 4-5cm so i was in labour and they were keeping me in!!! They couldnt move me till after they had there changeover meeting at 7pm so i stayed in triage until about quart to 8 when they moved me into a delivery room. I went on gas and air about half 7 because the pain was getting really bad! I had to walk to the delivery room and i remember that being difficult with all the pain. When i finally got in the room i begged for an epidural but they said no as i was coping well with the pain and offered me diamorphene instead so i accepted it. As time went on i felt like i needed to push but my waters hadnt gone and the midwife wouldnt check me to see how far dilated i was so i was getting frustrated with her and just begged her to check me around 9.50pm and even started crying! So she checked me and said my waters were still intact and i was fully dilated so i begged her to break the waters and finally she agreed and broke them at 10pm. Straight away i started pushing and grace was born at 10.08pm i pushed her out as hard as i could and stopped to feel her head when it was out! I was so proud of myself it was a much better experiance than with my first daughter. I needed stiches afterwards but not many which hurt more than anything else and when they delivered the placenter they said it was the smallest crappest looking one she'd ever seen and she was lucky to have grown as much as she had!! But i loved the experiance but i do think she will be my last.

Heres a pic :D

She's lovely :-) congratulations sweetie xx

Congratulations! It worries me slightly that they refused you an epidural!

Congratulations :)

I am happy it was a more pleasant experience for you this time around. Shame you had to keep pestering them though.

Wow, I know there are many more natural births in countries other than the US but it's really too bad they wouldn't give you the epidural when you asked for one. It's standard practice here! LOL

So glad to hear your experience was good all in all, and she is a cutie pie!

Yeah, me too! I imagine if it were me, and I don't tend to be very expressive. They wouldn't know if I was "coping well." I can't believe they decided that for you!

But anyway, congratulations!
