Hey guys, thought I'd share my success at making my own maternity clothes!

JEANS:
I semi followed this tutorial. But basically just cut out the waist band above the pants and sewed ribbed stretchy material in its place. The material I used was an old shirt that I'll never fit into again, but I'm sure they sell more sturdy fabric in stores.

Will be making more things to share soon :)

That's great going to have to try and make a pair as well

that's awesome! The only problem with me is even if I did that I would not fit into any of the jeans I already have! I cant get them up past my thighs! I haven't worn jeans in so long!! This is great tho... maybe after I have baby I can add this to any of my jeans I need more room in... save me some money!

Good job mamma, well done! x

RUCHED SHIRT

Was a men's size Small shirt, bit big on me. I had to cut out the sleeves, resize them, sew them back in with a smaller armpit hole, taper the sides and added elastic. Bit more complex than the pants :haha: Used this tute: https://littlebirdiesecrets.blogspot.com/2011/09/how-to-alter-mens-t-shirt-into-womens.html?m=1
And it's long enough to wear leggings and not have my hoochy on display haha.
Totally making more!! Need to go thrifting to get some soft men's shirts.

That's awesome!! My fiancé has some extra shirts around he doesn't use. I need to invest in a sewing machine... Found out my sister is pregnant. Making some pants and shirts would be a great gift for her birthday in August! Your awesome...thanks!

Check out the tank top maxi dresses. Sooo comfy, easy, and cute! Pm me if you can't find a link. Just google diy maxi dress, maternity maxi diy or whatever.

I wish my OH clothes were bigger lol he's pretty tiny guy so his clothes fit me

Hi!

Those both look absolutely fantastic. I'd pinned several DIY maternity jeans to Pinterest but the ones you made/linked too look a lot easier and alot less like maternity jeans if you get what I mean!

We'd been browsing in some baby type shops and I really loved the tshirts in the maternity section. They looked identical to the one you made, but was really put off by the price! I've pinned the tutorial you used and will definitely be trying it when I can pick up a few tshirts from a local thrift/charity shop.

I have the exact opposite problem lol, my guy is twice my size :haha: I have to go out and buy tops for this, but at a thrift store it's only $3-4. Totally worth it!

I have this problem too! DH is double the size I am! Definitely wouldn't be able to refashion an old shirt of his.
