Hi all, i havent been on for a while lifes alittle hetic now, but im really in need of some advice.
At the moment jaiden is taking his feeds every 2-3 hours ( im lucky if he makes 3 hrs) and is taking 5oz each time.
1 week ago he weighed 10lb 13oz at 4weeks 4 days!!!! ( he is due to be weighed again tomorrow).
My question is do you think we would both benefit from him being on hungry baby formula?
He becomes so unsettled 2 hrs after each feed, ive even tried giving water in between feeds in the hope he will go abit longer.....but it doesnt work
him, his dummy does nothing either!!!
Hes is currently on sma gold, i was thinking of swapping to sma white, what do you all think?

Does it take him a long time to feed? If so, it could be that he needs faster teats. I did this with Mia. Turns out she was only taking little & often as she was getting tired sucking through the slower teats.

If he is ok with the teats though, it could be that he's having a growth spurt, and will settle down in a day or two.

Be careful going across to the 'cheesy', thicker 'hungry milk', as they can cause severe tummy upset and constipation. Only change on the advice of your hv.

I have changed to hungry baby on advice of my HV. Finlay was feeding every 2-3 hours taking 5 ounces and he's only 2 weeks old! I have alternated 5 ounce feeds and smaller hungry baby feeds and his bowels have now regulated and he seems much happier (touch wood). H/V just said that once I run out of Apamil 1 to keep him on Aptamil 2. It seems to be working for us. He goes 4 hours now and seems a much happier little man. Maybe see what your HV says?

It sounds a bit early to change. I know breast and bottle are different but at 4 weeks my wee boy would only have lasted usually 2 hours sometimes 3. My wee man was getting bottle top ups from 5 wks and the HV advised to change to hungry baby at 9 wks, he was taking loads of milk (of both kinds) but her main concern was that he was now putting on weight too quickly. A lot of people seem to have probs with the heavier milk.

my little one is on cow and gate hungrier milk, and is so much happier. no constipation or anything bad? he's also sleeping and settling down better.

keely.
