Hi Marnie,

Thanks for taking the time to reply, means a lot thought i would be ignored forver on here lol i am going in tomorow at 10am, still dont know if i will do it but will decide tomorrow, shame no one else has any advice as i thought other here might have gone through same thing/worries???

will let u know how it goes, thanks for caring xxxxx

we are ok so far, how are you doing? baby getting big eh xx

Sorry I have also never experienced this - make sure though that you warn any surgeon who does this that you had an infection last time so that they make sure to use aseptic techniques and possible give you an antibiotic afterwards (a safe one) as well as reassure you.

Was your cervix opening when they did the stitch last time?

The stitch is absolutely the way to go Leanne. Having one placed electively at 13wks is very different to having one placed as an emergency at 22wks. At that point your cervix has already begun to change, and it is that that allows the infection to take hold, not the stitch.

I had an emergency stitch in my second pregnancy, and hours later labour was triggered as a result - probably due to infection. In my last (twin) pregnancy, I had one put in at 12wks - I made it to 38wks with 9 and 7Ib babies with no problems at all. I am so glad Ihad it put in - without it there is no way I would have gotten beyond 15wks :(

Good luck, and why not join us in the IC thread here? It's the best place for support throughout this pregnancy hun - it is filled with women in exactly the same predicament as you, so we totally understand where you're coming from x
