Weve picked Dexter August G..........
Would anyone care that the initials spell Dag? Ive never like names starting with a vowel for he middle name for that reason but im just soooo liking those names together

Is dag even a word? I'd say it might matter if the initials were and expletive or the like but a normal word or a sound I wouldn't worry at all. My hubby and I like a set of names that spell TRAS and hubby just joked that she shouldn't marry anyone with an H surname if she wants to double barrel.:haha:

It does matter to me but only if the initials were offensive in some way. DAG is fine Imo, NOB or TIT would make me reconsider though :haha:

I don't see the issue. As someone else said, unless it's offensive then it wouldn't matter to me.

We're calling baby Poppy-May, her initials will be PMT! :haha: it doesn't bother me though, I love the name and so does DH so it's staying. :) X

A dag is a dreadlock of pooey fleece on a sheep, or a funny/hardcase person around here. Neither term would put me off at all.

I wouldn't worry about DAG. Our surname begins with G too and we ruled out Seth Alexander for the same reason.

Dag like saying dog with an accent?

I dont get how thats in anyway bad, maybe if it was Faye Uma Carol Kensington or Gary Adam Young but DAG is fine

I agree with above, only if its offensive. My sons initials are FANG lol

Yea thats what it is here too.
K glad no-one thinks a issue. I always try and think of things he cud b teased about at school

Both my kids are SAW, it's a word...lol.

I am ADW (common abbreviation for Assault with a Deadly Weapon). My maiden name was ADA (American Dental Association, Americans with Disabilities Act....it was a lot of things) Heck, Ada is a name even, lol!

I'd be concerned only if it's a bad word... DAG seems just fine!

Never heard dag before! I'd be put off by ones like S.A.D or B.U.M and we nearly went with C.A.B which put me off, we're having a Dexter too, so he's D.A.B.
Unless it's really bad I don't think it matters, most people hardly ever know your middle name anyway!

I think you'd be best getting opinions from people from NZ/Australia where the term 'dag' is used to see how people react. I only know it because of some friends from there- it's like "dork" isn't it?

I don't think initials are a big deal though- I don't think children really use them, and if you're initialing something as an adult, by then it's not a big deal anyway.

I had a friend in HS whose initials were BAD and he loved it. I think he still uses it and he's rounding 30!

Initials matter to an extent. If we have a girl her name is going to start with an S, and the last name starts with a D so I have to avoid middle names that start with certain letters so she doesn't end up with the initials STD, SID, SAD, SOD, SMD, etc. It is proving difficult!

whats SMD?

I never thought or considered initials until I offered to name this little one after my husband. His initials are BO and I knew he wasn't a fan but he really hates it. Boys growing up are pretty relentless. He also said no J or F because well..... BO JO or FO. My initials were SR as a kid so not A big deal for me at all. And if he wanted a namesake I wouldn't have given it a second thought.

haha.
Maiden: KLT
Prior Married: KLL
Remarried: KLP
I went from cult, to kill to klp--- i guess I outgrew the weirdness.

My kids are IML and BOL. Initials are eh, unless it spells something like ASS or LSR lol, then I might reconsider.
