Ok - weird question coming up....

Can nipples change over time? When I squeeze them atm, I'm getting small amounts of colostrum, but they invert a little bit & look flat. I'm sure I didn't have flat nipples with dd - nobody ever mentioned it anyway

Might they change after birth?? Any tips??

Thanks :)

Nipples shouldn't become inverted if they weren't before (it's one of the warning signs for breast cancer) but if both nipples are the same maybe it's that the breast tissue around them has swollen?

Thank you noon child! It is both nipples & yes, now you mention it they do both look a bit swollen. Maybe that will go down once I'm actually feeding properly.

Thanks for replying :)

Mine were flat at birth and we had to use a nipple shield for awhile. They're still flat when I'm not feeding, but breastfeeding has really made a difference in how they pop out when I feed the baby. If feeding went well with your first, I'm sure you'll be fine.
