Do they still treat blocked tear ducts?

I'm pretty sure my 21 month old has a blocked tear duct and am wondering if they still operate on them?

I had an operation to replace my tear duct when I was younger but I known they don't do as many ops these days for certain things.

Anyone know? What age are they likely to do it at?

Thanks xx

I think they do. My friend's little one has blocked tear ducts but they won't sort them out until he is 1 as he'll have to go under. xxx

It's a really scary thought :(
Will need to take my LO to docs to see if I am right about it being blocked.

Has your friends LO been obvious from birth?
Xx

Yeah, he gets really sticky eyes and it looks like he's been crying alot - especially in the colder weather love him :( He's 28 weeks now and docs won't treat it at his age now. :(

Wee soul. Sounds like me when I was young!

My LO just gets a tear running down her cheek but no stickiness xx

Our LO had blocked tear ducks till he was 6 months, when I quizzed the Dr they said if they were still a problem when he was a year they would do something, but I didn't ask what-sorry.

Hope your little one gets sorted.

xxxx

I think at first you can clear them with a warm compress. If clearing them doesn't work, then they may have to do something more.
