Just a quick question - do you all stick to the age limit on toys for your LO's?

There are so many nice things that are 2+ or 3+ [she will be 21 months at Christmas] my sisters say just get what I know she will like [i.e. ignore the age range]. I have got her afew bits that are 2+ already and she is fine with them, I wouldn't ever leave her in the room alone to play with toys that she could choke on but apart from that is there really any real problem, mean I want to get her a kitchen for her bedroom as I know she will LOVE it and also a new talking/crying doll but both of these are 3+!!!

Thanks
Kerry

I ignore the age thing and just use my common sense and make sure theres no small parts etc :hugs: xx

Dec got 3+ toys for his first christmas when he was 14 months !! lol I dont pay attention to age limits, just as long as it doesnt have very small or sharp parts in it.

I don't pay attention to them... unless I can see a good reason to. Ike is 11 months old and already has a toy laptop that's age 3+. I'm going to get him a 3+ hoover for either his birthday or Christmas too.

i just use my common sense and think what stage he is at because they are all individual, some 3+ toys might not be suitable for certain 21 month olds but perfect for others.

Ben will be 21 months at xmas and most of his pressies are 2 or 3+

i would say just go by what you think is appropriate. the only thing to be wary of is if the toy/game will prove too difficult for the child as it can leave them frustrated and lower self esteem if they feel they really cant do something. having said that, its still important to push childrens development. sorry to get all smart arse on you :haha:

nooooopeeee if i like it i buy it
generally i dont even look at the age group!

xx

No I dont stick to it... I just buy what I like

I agree it's down to common sense. We have a 2+ toy which LO loves he cant use all the functions (leapfrod alphapet explorer) Nothing is small enough to choke on I think its just meant for children who understand more.

Go with what LO will like

i dont stick to age limits i just buy using common sense, annabelle will be just 2 at xmas and she is having a kitchen and a doll for her bday so i would say go for it!

im getting Kailee a laugh and learn kitchen for her b-day lol and she will only be one but then again it says 6-36 months which is a huge gae gap :/ some of the age groups are kinda dumb

I ignore them too. Amelie has loads of 3+ stuff already.

As long as you use your loaf it shouldn't be a problem... Ie no small pieces that can be swallowed etc. Jess has £ year stuff now too, and has had for a while xXx

it depends on the toy, IF i think the kids will be ok with it then i ignore the age.

blake has a car that says 18months - he has had it since he was 9months - it belonged to the older 2, it was solid and plastic, the door opens/closes and the wheels turn etc. the only thing that was too small was the key which we took off him.

as long as you dont then sue the company if you choose to give younger than the age i dont see aproblem, its your choice.

I buy what I like and just use my common sense. Jason is getting the Handy Manny dancing tools toolbox for christmas and it's 3+. He also has 2 action men already lol

I tend to stick quite close to them he'll be one at christmas and so far only has two toys that are age 2+ because they have no small parts and seem quite basic to me and no age 3+ stuff but the majority are 12 ans 18 months +

I was thinking the same thing for Rosie...everything seems to be 3+ if I stuck to her age things there would be hardly anything to choose from! I have got her .........
a doll 2+... a pram 3+ ...ring o roses fifi 3+.... dora splash n swim 3+.... a tea set 3+......fur real puppy 3+..... cinderellla doll 3+ ...... a hoover 3+ ..... a disney princess answer phone 3+ ,but I know she will love them all x

i dont pay attention to age limits, if i do its to see if something may be too difficult for Lilly not because of safety. and also because i dont want her to have too much for the higher ages as i will run out of things to buy by the time she does reach the 'age advised' x
