Seems things are always changing and now your not supposed to store feeds. Thing is I did it with my DD and never caused her any harm so just wondering what your method is for making up feedsd?

xxx

if im at home i make all the feeds up that i need and put them at the back of the fridge and i microwave for 30mseconds when i need it
if im out i take the bottles i need with the cooled boiled water in and just add the powder when i need to
i did used ot make them up following the guidlines but i find it im practical to do that and i cant faff about for half an hour making a feed and cooling it down when william is hungry it just doesnt work fo rus

Lots of people on here store feeds in the fridge, as long as they're used in 24 hours. I store them, even after LO has had some of it, which apparently you're not supposed to do, because the teat's not sterile once they've sucked on it, but I never sterilise her dummies, and she uses the same one for hours on end, and she's never been ill from it

I store mine for the day too. with two, it is so much easier than having to make two bottles at a time. I just mix a big batch of formula in a large container in the morning and then pour the right amount in as many clean bottles as I have along with a mix of any of the expressed breast milk that I have pumped that day into the bottles (or I save the expressed milk for a couple of whole breast milk bottles - depends on my mood..hehe).

I make up four bottles at a time and store them in the fridge. It'd take far too long to make them up when they're needed, Lucas would be hysterical!

I don't get why you're not supposed to store made up feeds but you can store opened cartons of the ready to feed stuff for 24hrs in the fridge. Surely it's just the same?

I store in fridge too-stupid guidelines
x

i keep changing coz i keep reading about baby getting ill i dunno what to do really right now im making em fresh through the day and making some and storing em for night

I store 2/3 night time bottles in the fridge otherwise,i make them up as needed during the day.

I store the leftovers in the fridge too. At $26 per can, the formula is incredibly expensive, and if there is no reason to waste it we try not to. Obviously if the formula had been out for too long or something we pour it out, but otherwise it just goes back in the fridge if he doesn't drink a whole bottle. We also save leftover baby food.

We just make up about five bottles right before we go to bed each night and then leave them in the fridge for the next day. Mika doesn't like warm bottles, and really prefers them right out of the fridge so we don't have to worry about warming them. Strange child also won't eat any kind of baby food unless it is from the fridge.

i store the water in the fridge and add the powder and warm up when its needed. I use the water within 12 hours of it being boiled and the bottles sterilised. If i go out i take the water in the bottle and the powder in a small container. If i don't need it while i'm out i redo it when i get home as it hasn't been sorted in the fridge. The system works well for us :) x

Amy only has two bottles a day now so we make them up when we need them.

When she was younger we used to sterilise all the bottles in the morning & fill them with cooled boiled water. Then we'd add the milk when she wanted a feed.

From what I understand a feed that's been made up will last 1 hour at room temp & 2 hours in the fridge.

I store them in Fridge too!

Yup, me too
Pain in the arse otherwise I think. You are supposed to feed on demand, but how can you do that if it takes over half an hour to make a bottle? Sophie would be going off her head.

I store them in the fridge, HV said theres so many guidlines do what u feel is best.

Yep I store them in the fridge too! I make up 4 or 5 at a time, chill them quickly in a sink of cold water, then put them at the back of the fridge.

My lo gets so impatient, when she decides shes hungry she wants it immediately!

What I dont get is that we have to make baby wait half hour plus, they're probably screaming, whilst we faff around making a fresh bottle, yet any other time you mustn't let your lo cry for half an hour or more?? Surely thats a contradiction? xx

I use your technique too!

Breast milk can be stored safely in the fridge for up to 72 hours.

Mixed formula..defer to the directions from the formula maker...typically it must be used in 24 hours as they typically contain NO preservative.

You should never use the same nipple all day long...it doesn't make the baby sick, but can lead to thrush, which is very painful, takes a long time to treat and will cause poor feeding.

It doesn't take a minute to wash off a fresh nipple.
