Hi ladies,

I am wondering if anyone knows if you can get pregnant without doing IUI or IVF with stats like my husbands below  and what the percentage of chances are? Also, what has worked that your partner has done to increase his count? I am worried our only options are IUI or IVF and it is so expensive

1st SA Stats 3/11/09
Volume 2.5mL
pH 8.5
Total Motile Sperm 0M - very few
Motility too few sperm to get results

2st SA Stats 3/18/09
Volume 3.2mL
pH 8.2
Total Concentration 50M
Total Motile Sperm 2.5M
Motility 5%

3rd SA Stats 4/23/09 - IUI prep
Volume 3.4mL
Total Concentration 51M
Total Motile Sperm 13.6M
Motility 26.7%

4th SA Stats 5/22/09 - IUI prep
Volume 3.0mL
Total Concentration 27M
Total Motile Sperm 2.9M
Motility 33.3%

5th SA Stats 7/18/09 - IUI prep
Volume 2.3mL
Total Concentration 8.3M
Total Motile Sperm 1.4M
Motility 16.7%

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!! Thank you.

My husband has a low sperm count and he takes male fertility supplements called Coaster. Google it and it should come up it was recommended by our RE. Since he has been taking them his sperm count has improved slightly...and he was also told to take zinic vitamins too.

Well good luck and I hope this helps!

Thank you! How long has your DH been taking them before they noticed the improvement? I ended up ordering Fertilaid for Men for him and hope that will help. :happydance:

I hear Fertility aid is a good product as well and I see it a lot on different websites, so good luck with it and lots of baby dust ur way

Well my husband had taken one full bottle before his SA and I think that is a 2 month supply. Then after the second bottle he had improved some more so his Dr gave him a bunch of bags of samples and adviced him to keep taking them. Then when we went to do an IUI it had gone down again really low  I was shocked but the Dr said it could have been due to timing because we collected at home and brought it in that day. :wacko:He is due for another SA and he has been taking zinic vitamins as well so we will just have to see how things go.

TTC is rough but we are trying now the old fashion way charting and BD at the right time. Be sure to keep me posted on :hugs: and GL again

well my fiancee and i had the same problem a few months ago , doctors even said you'll have to have ivf icsi to be able to get pregnant as there is no other way with his SA results. He started taking menevit, vitamin c 1000mg a day and chinese herbs (went to an acupuncturist who made up herbs for his swimmers) 6 weeks later i was pregnant.

so yes i think you can .. goodluck hun

Wow!!! What a success story!!!! I love hearing this because my husband and I was told the samething and now we are taking matters in our own hands and we will get our BFP on our own. :happydance:

I'm thinking of doing acupunture if we dont get pregnant this cycle, but thanks again for sharing this with us

no problem , i think its really good u didnt just listen to the doctors and think oh no we're doomed , i think doctors are a little narrow minded these days and dont even want to try or suggest other alternatives , just go for the expensive n invasive procedures straight away

well hun im sure you will get ur bfp very soon and ill see u in the pregnancy forums talking about how the bloating is driving u crazy lol

LOL!!! Yes hun staying positive is the key to getting through infertility...Thanks and I will see u over the rainbow:thumbup:

Well ladies. I had my fertility doctor's appointment today. He ordered several blood test (blood clotting, PCOS, LH, and some others). He also placed me on 100 mg of clomid which I will start next cycle and 500 mg of metformin which I started today. I also will go in a couple weeks once I get my period for a HSG test. Anyone had that done  ? I'm not sure what to expect there. I really hope this will help

Wow!!! 100 mg of Clomid seems like a lot for a first timer (assuming this is ur first cycle) my doc had given me 50 mg and I over stimulated producing 9 eggs in one cycle , it was a nightmare, I don't know what ur situation is but I OV on my own anyway he just put me on clomid to try 2 cycles with IUI treatment. After that I took matters in my own hands and we will get our BFP naturally.

As for the HSG I had one done and it was painless for me but other women I spoke to said that it was painful for them. You just have to follow the doctors orders exactly. They say to take pain killers prior to procedure to avoid the pain afterwards.

Well good luck with everything and please keep me updated :dust: to us all!!!!

My DH is in the military so we are constantly moving and thus having breaks in our TTC process. I was on 50 mg of clomid when I was seeing an OB/GYN back in 2008. Then in 2009 I went to a RE (reproductive endo) and he placed me on 100 mg of clomid once we started our IUIs. I ovulate irregularly so they placed me on 50 mg to help and then when we got DHs SA results they increased in hopes I'd produce more follicles to counteract DH's low counts. This new doctor said that the 50 mg was a waste of time and we needed to jump straight to the 100 since we had been TTC for 3 years.

Last night he called me late and I found out I have PCOS. I am not sure what to think now.

aaaawwwww sweetie I'm so sorry to hear that. The worst thing is to find out there is something else causing infertility :growlmad:.

Well hang in there and try to stay positive I have a friend that had the same condition and still got pregnant with clomid so it will be just fine it just takes a little longer for us girls but it will eventually happen. :dust::dust: to us all

Hi Ladies:hi:.
OH & i have been ttc since April 08 when i had my sterilisation reversed, that was a success but last year & after many tests we found out that OH has a low sperm count:cry:. He now takes zinc, vitamin c ,selenium, multivitamin & folic acid:winkwink:.I'm hoping these will help to boost his swimmers & we've got an appointment on the 29th at a fertility clinic where he has to do another SA. FX theres an improvement:happydance:.
I also had a HSG last year & it went well, the dye went straight through my tubes:happydance:,only thing is i found it a bit painful so i think you should take a couple of painkillers before you go,i didn't so that's probably why i found it like that:dohh: cos i've heard loads of women saying it didn't bother them at all.
Good luck & take care.
xxxx

i think my husband and i are in the same boat. cant remember his numbers i guess i can post later if i can find. after his sa the doctor prescribed HIM clomid. he stated that he doesnt know if that would do more good than harm and it takes about 6 months to know. that was about 2-3 months ago... still havent gotten preg yet... i have been charting and using OPKs... hubby stop using clomid because it was making him very sick. he would be having fevers every time and cold sweats. has anyone else ever heard of clomid for men for fertility? and is there anything else that his PCP can prescribe for fertility besides clomid cause that is a no go...

We'd been ttc for 9 months when we got an appt with the specialist and found out that OH count and morphology wasn't good. We hadn't expected that as I fell pg first month ttc (later m/c). OH has taken fertilaid and cut down on alcohol and his second sample was much better, the count and motility now over the minimum recommended. Only the morphology remains on the low side despite an improvement. We have decided to give it another 3 months ttc naturally before retesting and reconsidering our options.
