Do you wake your LO's to eat?! When we were in the hospital the nurses kept telling us "never let your baby go more then 4 hours without a feed!" they were so strict about it..and now that we are home LeeAnne has been sleeping today for 4 hours..not sure if I should wake her for a feed or just let her sleep until she's hungry? In the hospital she would sleep 8 hours sometimes without waking up to eat but people keep telling me "never wake a sleeping baby" I just worry if I let her sleep to long I'll be depriving her as silly as that sounds

don't let them go more than 2 until they gain back their birth weight.

well I'd let her sleep then, but defintely don't let her go more than 4-5 hours until maybe a month. Renah goes 12 hrs now since 2.5 months

First few weeks I'd say wake them for their feed. Anytime after, personally I would say no too. If they're hungry they will wake up and let you know it!

let her sleep... the reason to wake a baby is if they are jaundiced or loosing weight.

I was told not to let then go more than 6 hours but having had a baby now I know that they will let you know when they are hungry, lol!

i was told 6 hours is the limit from the midwives. They all say different things but i would let her sleep if she is gaining weight.

I was also told 6 hours by the midwives in hospital xx

Tbh hun id wake er if she as goes longer than 5 hrs as i was told before they get to 1 mth old they cant control their blood sugar too well x

we always let Hannah sleep, she's always gained weight beautifully though

i was told 4 hours maximum also and had to keep to that as tommy was premature but i soon changed my mind after a while lol

being honest i wouldnt let him go longer than 4 hours in the day, i would try and get as much down him as i possibly so he slept through the night

h x

I know a few mothers who had LOs who slept 8-12 hours from birth, they gained weight fine and were healthy happy little bubs (with happy well rested mums!)

If Jasper had have slept through I'd have left him to sleep - provided he was continuing to gain weight and be healthy.

Honestly, LUCKY YOU if she's sleeping! Jasper is 3 months old, and for a fortnight he lulled me into a false sense of security by sleeping 8 then 4 hours a night (12 total) but the rest of the time he's continued to feed every 2-3 hours around the clock!!!! :hissy:

Feed her if your concerned, but dont let other people's opinions sway you too much. You'll know if its right.

I wake Dylan during the day, but he usually does wake up himself in the day every 3 hours anyway. Hes such a hungry baby, hes taking a full 4oz at every feed!! I leave him at night and count my blessings when he goes for an extra hour. I was told in hospital to feed every 3 hours and not to let him go for more than 4 hours, but he was jaundiced and I was still attempting bf then. Another midwife told me to wake him if he hadnt fed for 6 hours.

I wake n the day every 4 hopurs if she hasn't woken which is rare, but leave to do what she wants at night. HV said to do that so she goes longer through the night, worked for a few days, then went back to 4 hours. Sometimes we get 5 hours though.

I never had to. Hunter would wake up every few hours to eat.

i would probably do it for the first few weeks, but after that i have never woke maddi up! and she slept through from 6weeks, and before that she would go 6hours i think. tbh i'm kinda of the opinion they will let you know when hungry x

Hi I was told to wake him by one midwife as at night he would sleep for ages and when we first got home we used to lay awake waiting for him to wake up. She told me to wake him every 3 hours. So we did that night. The next day I had a home visit from a different midwife who told me to leave him if he was sleeping and that he would wake if hungry. So we decided to leave him and let him wake himself. I would wake him if he went to long in the day though. He has always loved his sleep xx

i never woke lilly through the night, tbh thats why i think she slept straight through from day 1! but i would give her 4 hourly feeds, if she was a sleep i would let her go over half hour or so and she would usually wake her self, she establish a great routine from this! xxxx
