AS the title says really, just wondering if anyone knows of any work from home jobs I could do to boost my income while on mat leave and when I go back to work part time? I have looked into Avon but not too keen on commission-based sales stuff. I was thinking along the lines of anything else?

I am in Scotland btw, if this helps.

Im looking into Alpine Access and New Corp .. those are both legit from what I have read.

Stalking! I'm going back to my part-time job in March but could do with earning more by way of something from home. What are Alpine Access and New Corp? X

Gonna stalk this ... Was wondering the same myself :)

If you are good at arts and crafts there is a tonne of stuff you can make and sell from home.

They are both wfh customer service jobs , I know new corp works with direcTV on a contract but they both employ you as an employee. There's other sites that do similar work like Arise, but Arise makes you a contractor and you have to have your own company. I spent a bit of time researching, but since its customer service your work space has to be closed off and quiet so no baby in the background. Im looking into it to do AROUND my husband's schedule.

You could always become a childminder, I've done this and it's fantastic. :) I work part time from home, get an income and still get to see Isabelle all the time. Best of all I get maternity pay for 9 months still :)

little_lady, how did you go about setting up as a childminder? What qualifications do you need, any groups you registered for etc?

Think I would love to do this. The thought on missing out on LO's firsts just breaks my heart!!

Also, you said you still get 9 months Mat pay? How've you managed that?!?!?!

This isn't long term, but during the holidays I do gift wrapping. It makes a decent amount, start up costs are low, and I can set my own schedule.

I'm doing Avon and make about £50 a time. That's just through friends and family. I've also started making sweet gifts in the run up to Christmas. Not real earners but a bit of pocket money xx

a girl i know has just become a pampered chef consultant-i assume its commision based though

You need to do a 4 week childminding course plus a paediatric first aid course. Your local council should be able to help you book the courses, in Kent the childminding one was free but don't know about elsewhere. It took me six months to register. And because I've been self employed for 6 months I get maternity pay of 130 a week, or whatever the current rate is.

Do look into it, I think its a great job.

Great idea for a thread! :) I do design work from home, but be careful as I did lose my maternity pay once I went back to "work". Best to check out the rules in your situation before making that leap. x x

I've used People per hour before but from my experience it's difficult to make a decent amount of money from it as you are competing for jobs with people around the world who have different expectations with regards to pay (are willing to work for a lot less money than minimum UK wage). Unless you have very specialist skills which people are willing to pay a bit more for, I think it would be hard to make much cash in my opinion.

Just realised my post may have been confusing - I meant I will get maternity pay for the next baby, but I don't get maternity pay on top of what I earn as a childminder. It is one or the other!

When I was a student I used to work for these people: https://www.takenotetyping.com/

They're really flexible, it takes next to no training and the pay is good, I really couldn't recommend it enough.
