For the last 4 years, I've had an "ovulation syndrome" as diagnosed by one OBGYN (with no blood tests, no hormonal workup, no scans - I have no idea what she based this on and it doesn't seem like a real diagnosis to me). Anyway, my symptoms are that I experience rather intense and severe breast pain from ovulation to almost the end of my cycle (I have relief towards the end of my cycle and period). So, this has been going on for 4 years. My new Obgyn (who is treating me for IF as I wait for an RE spot to open up) told me that the breast pain is a sign of ovulation for me.

Anyway, I took clomid for 2 cycles and I had no breast pain. From my bbt it looked like a ovulated (and I had severe lower pelvic bloating and pain for 5 days and it seemed to go away when the bbt said I ovluated).

So, I decided I needed a break from clomid (the side effects were so nasty and I'm waiting on a HSG and laprascopy and started to worry that the clomid time was wasted as I might have scaring/blockage). So this month, I've had a very clear bbt rise and it looks like I've ovulated and now I have the breast pain back.

Has anyone encountered this? It looks like I've ovulated with and without clomid but when off clomid the breast pain is there. I'm very confused and wondering if this pattern reveals something that I need to know to help me conceive.

Any advice would be welcome!
Thanks!

Painful nipples and breasts are always I sign that I've ovulated.

can i just say that I didn't get breast pain till a day before I got my period this last cycle doe sthis mean I may not have ovulated till the day before I got my period, that couldn;t happen could it?..sounds silly to ask but I didn't get any of the symptoms start on the day that i supposedly ovulated,Did OPKS no temps...

I'm not sure about the clomid connection as I have never taken it but I always get breast pain after ov until Af . Only time I don't is when inn in the pill . I put it down to hormones x

I've never taken Clomid, but within the last 6-9 months, I've had breast pain right about the "average" or expected time of ovulation. I was taking Prometrium (synthetic progesterone) earlier in the year as prescribed by a Nurse Practitioner. It didn't help in getting me pregnant, but ever since I took those pills (and stopped after three months of taking them), I get the breast pain right when I'm about to get AF and more recently about the time I'm supposedly ovulating/just ovulated. I'm not sure really of the connection, but I'd say the progesterone is to blame. Just not sure why after so long I still get the pains.

I also get breast pain a few days after I ovulate, which lasts until AF arrives.

Drives me nuts as I have read about sore breasts being a pregnancy symptom, so every month it gets my hopes up, even though I know I'm being a fool because I get the same thing every time and I've never had a BFP! D'oh!

I usually get breast pain a few days after O and it gets stronger every day until AF arrives. some cycles I do not feel my breasts at all. I think it's something hormonal but cant be sure.

I almost never get any breast pain at any point in my cycle. I'm on my second round of Clomid now and I still don't get any breast pain. I have had one or two months where I've had increasing breast pain in the week before AF, but most of the time I don't have any breast symptoms.

It does sound like that your breast pain is a sign that you've ovulated, but I wouldn't read too much into it if you don't get it one month and you know you've O'ed. You can drive yourself crazy trying to analyze symptoms and there's just no way of knowing what's going on in your body because all of the hormonal interactions are so complex.

I always get severe breast pain from pvulation till my period! I also get a severe migraine when I ovulate an another severe migraine 2 days before my period.

I get pain in one nipple only... trying to track it... only started recently... went to docs thought it was a sign of breast cancer.... thankfully got all clear... seems to appear a week to 10 days before ovulation. Interesting that you think it is a sign of ovulation.
