Does clomid have a chance of working for us despite severe/mild MF(depends who u ask)

Been TTC one year since coming off BC(Oct 2010). Got pregnant in August 2011. Miscarried in September and haven't had a period since. Periods have always been irregular (28-60 days after coming off BC). They were 45 days long before the pill.

Fiancees SA showed 204 million sperm, 87% vitality, 61% rapid progressive motility, but only 4% Kruger normal forms. Recommended IVF with ICSI which I found odd considering we were able to concieve naturally so didn't see why it would so drastically go to ICSI.

I'm going to try clomid to try to ovulate as we got pregnant after I finally had one normal cycle length so I'm thinking maybe he isn't a huge problem as long as I ovulate. What do you ladies think? Should I be hopeful with clomid or is it a waste of time?

Actually your husband's SA sounds normal. Morphology should be about 3-4% anyways.
I wouldn't say you have a male factor, at all. My DH's SA was bad.

Clomid makes you ovulate..if you already ovulate on your own then it's not going to do anything for you. You could give it a shot and see if it helps.

Thanks for your reply Armywife! I appreciate it. For some reason the report said "Poor Prognosis-May need IVF with ICSI if consistently below 4%". Beside his Kruger normals it said (5%=normal). It sounds like too me that every fertility center has interpreted the 4% cut-off differently. Very confusing. His doctor had no idea what kruger was and even said his sperm count was low at first and that it should be 300-400 million so I guess we'll wait for the FS.

My fertility centre has 4% as normal (what my DH's is) as normal.

Bear in mind your DH has an excellent count so 4% of 200 million is an amazing no. of healthy sperm v's someone who only has 40mill.

I just replied to your other thread re MF issues, but now i've read this i don't feel you have MF issues tbh (I also feel like i've replied to this before with your DH's SA? am i going mad?!)

If irregular ovation is your problem I think that clomid can help and is much less invasive then IVF. I was ovulating with no problem every month, except late ovulation around cd 18/19, and my FS put me on clomid. He said that since I was O'ing late the follicle/egg may not be maturing properly and that's why it's been 2 years and still not prego. Im just now entering the 2ww of round 2, so we'll see how it goes.

Hi everyone and thanks for replying. Hi Nell, your not losing your mind. I think I've probably spammed the board in a search for information about the million questions I have lol. I wish our fertility center had the4% cut off. Would save us a lot of stress. Not to mention the family doctor misreading the whole report lol. Sorry for posting so much

Agreed with Nell, my DH had 7.5 million on the first then 10 million the second with 19% motility on both. I'd gladly take 200 million sperm and 60% motile!!

I don't know where you're doctor is getting his standards but your DH has to have at least a 60 million sperm count for a normal SA. So his count is NOT at all low. The average morphology (this has been revised) is anywhere from 2-6%.

Hi Armywife, what treatment are you guys currently trying? If you go over to fertilchat, the male infertility section has a really helpful man named Rich that will reply to your posts with some pretty informative information. He is an expert on Male Factor and knows vitamin combos etc.
