I am 6 weeks post emcsand still quite sore and tender, i know it varies for everyone but i just wondered if having an elcs generally means you recover faster?

Also is there any variation on where you incision is? Mine is below my pubic hairline, v low - wondering with a planned section if it would be higher..... Would they re open the same incision if i had a 2nd section?

Hiya, in my experience , the recovery is totally different for an ELCS than an EMCS. I had my first my EMCS and chose and ELCS for my second. For a start it was planned, so they took their time! Used a spinal block rather than an epidural and I found I felt much less. During my EMCS I feel they did it so quickly they just tugged me apart and it caused more damage. I'm not sure why it is easier second time around, perhaps as you know what to expect bit I found I was out of pain within the week ( first time was a few weeks I think). Where is your pain ? Have you had your 6-8 week check yet? I'd raise it with doctor.

Yep, they reopened the same incision for my second, it's always done low down I think. Only difference this tine is that my surgeon used staples which I was not warned about! And they have changed the procedure with clot risks so I was sent home with anti clotting injections which I had to give to myself each for a week, wasn't that great!

Thanks for the reply, my GP check is tomorrow.... I've started bleeding again, fresh red, a little more than spotting- praying it's my period and nothing nasty.
My pain is a general tender or soreness a little above my scar, really thought it'd be gone by now.

Good to hear next time around could be better if i have an elcs, i fear the recovery from a second more than the op currently.

I had both an elective (diagonal breech baby) & emcs (uterine window). The recovery time was the same for both. They cut the same spot both times very low in bikini line.
I had bleeding that stopped and restarted several times in the first 8 weeks after birth. My obgyn said it was normal.
