Looking for some one to shed some light on my situation and help me figure out possibly whats going on with me. Ok so heres my story, Ive been ttc for over a year now. Been to the doctor every few months and kept being told I needed to wait a year for any help or tests to be done. The reason I was going to the doctor was that I have irregular cycles lasting anywhere from 38 to 75 days with no period, at one point I believe I was pregnant and misscarried but due to the fact that I hadnt gotten a positive on a stick my doctor would not do an ultrasound. Finally my doctor has done some bloodwork on me (not sure of all the kinds) I was told they all came back normal except that my progestrone was at 0.98 and was told it shouldve been at least 17!!!!! My doctor then told me that she believes I have PCOS but she wanted the fertility specialist to diagnose it and that was the end of it no explanation or anything. So now I am waiting to get in to see a specialist. I started doing research and I believe I not only have PCOS but that I am insulin resistant my symtoms are:

BMI of 31,
Gained around 60lbs in less than a year most of it seems to be around my midsection,
Very oily acne prone skin which started around the same time as the weight gain,
Horrible cramps nothing seems to help,
Depression,
Mood swings,
Feeling like I ALWAYS have to pee,
Extreme fatigue,
Muscle weakness,
Headaches,
Dizziness,
Blurred vision,
Not ovulating,
I start feeling extremly shakey and like I need sugar,
Hot Flashes,
Lack of concentration,
Agitaion escpecially if Ive waited to long to eat,
Being bloated,
Slightly high blood pressure.

Thats all I can think of for now so If someone can help PLEASE PLEASE do. ANy advice or possible answers would be greatly appreciated!!!

I forgot to mention Im dealing with Military healthcare and doctors so things are a little different in the ways they deal with stuff.

Hiya, sorry the doctors are not much help!!

Id say you have symptoms that sound like either PCOS or a Thyroid problem.

I have sever PCOS and have very oily/acne prone skin, mood swings and feeling depressed/low. BUT my hormones are also all over the place with high testosterone and sky-high LH levels. Your hormones seem normal though (or at least that's what the Dr said!)

Id say you need an ultrasound of your ovaries and a blood test for thyroid hormones. I really hope you get to see the fertility specialist soon :flower:

I actually dont know If my testosterone is normal or not when I went to the doc the test wasnt back yet and unfortunatly she didnt tell me if I should call for the results or wait till I see the FS. Ive had a trans vag ultrasound done about 2yrs ago and they told me there were no cysts but that one ovary was larger but never said anything more. I also had my thyroid levels checked and they were normal. Ive heard that it can be something that runs in the family and my sister has basically all the same symptoms and she constantly has cysts. Sorry I forgot to put this in the above message.

I'd definitely push to have another scan of your ovaries - certainly sounds like something is going on. I can't emphasise enough pushing and pushing your doctor. As I don't have all the classic symptoms, my GP diagnosed me with IBS and thought I was loopy for pushing on to get her to refer me (having no AF was worrying me!) and finally I got a great consultant who got me sorted.

:hugs: don't worry - there are lots and lots of things that can be done

Thank you im trying as hard as I can to get them to do tests unfortunatly the FS that I got a referal for told me today when I called to make an appt that there werent any available appoinment?!? Hows this possible? Can a Family Practitioner diagnose or rule out PCOS for me?

At this point Im more worried about my health than about getting pregnant.

Our GP (same thing) could advise me on lifestyle choices, but to get proper diagnosis, advice, discussion on best medication - it's good to see a specialist.

Definitely start with your practioner, though, they may be able to help with blood tests for hormone levels and insulin - however, sometimes you do need an US for the firm result. I had a lap and dye and ultrasound.

Things that can help in the meantime are low GI foods, reduction in stress, a good multi vitamin
