Does your LO prefer one side more than the other?

Kai definitely prefers the right boob. I always end up pumping the left side to make up for it as it fills up but hardly ever gets emptied. That also means I tend to get blocked ducts in the left boob. I've tried putting him on the left one, but the nipple is slightly inverted and he fusses so much I end up giving up and swapping him back to the right.

Hebe used to back around the same age as Kai but she settled down. Have you tried a different hold? If you rugby ball him it might fool him into thinking he's on the other side and your nipple will appear different to him as he sees it from a different angle.

It's called football hold on this picture - I think it's american ie. american football.
So if you have them on your left breast then rather than their tummy towards yours, their tummy goes down your left side with feet towards your back - hope that makes sense! It also helps with sore nipples as they put a different part against the palet.

Jasper prefers the right boobie, but the left boobie is soooooo over enthusiastic that I have to always put him on lefty first, or lefty will leak (or spray if its out and about)

Righty was Jasper's first boobie, so thats my theory!

That or lefty drowns him!

I also LOVE feeding Jasper laying on my side, because I had a c-section it became a habit... and I just like it... its cuddly!

katie hardly goes on the right one. i dont think it fills up as fast, she only goes on about once a day and i put her on there for her middle of the night feed xx

yep, right is definately a favourite. i wonder wether its something to do with which hand mummy is? im a lefty, so find it easier manouvering her with my left hand onto right boobie, we always get much better position and latch this way.

Right is definitely easier, its always a bit softer and easier to latch. The left gets really painful as Isaiah gets really frustrated with it after about 10 mins and starts sucking the life out of it! I've tried rugby ball hold as thats how we started but its better cradling.

Tonight though I've got to do an hour on each side as HV says he's not getting enough hind milk and thats the reason for his colic. I've no idea how I'm gonna manage an hour on the left side!!

No matter how many times I tried, all the positions, Hayden rarely nursed from the left side after he was a couple months old. I was so uneven lol, thankfully with a bra you couldn't tell. But the best luck I had getting him to do it atleast a little was laying side by side with him, letting him nurse from the right side and instead of turning over just lean down so he could nurse from the left side in the same position lol
