How do you shake your Dr Browns bottles to mix formula?
They explode if it's too warm and leak if it's cold!

Aptamil says to shake the mixture for 10 seconds but i can't do that with these bottles and it's driving me mad! :hissy: i just kind of swirl it about but it isnt mixing it properly! help?

Hi hun i don't use dr browns but wondered have u tried using a sterralised mixing bowl, u could mix it in there with a whisk and then place it in the bottle.
Sorry not to be any help but didn't want to read and run xx

I have no problem with them leaking. I usually warm them up to roomish temperature to help the powder mix and then i swill it round rather than shaking it.

xxx

I mix mine in a storage bottle because mine explode if too hot too.

ETA - ALso, LO has gaviscon in her milk which is very hard to mix in lol

I find this with our Dr brown bottles too. I always have a cloth ready for it.

To mix the formula i tend to roll the bottle back and forth in my hands to mix it rather than shake it. I stopped shaking the formula cos it made too many bubbles and didnt want Lo drinking milkshake. lol

I let the boiled water cool in the kettle and then pour it into the bottles and have it all capped and ready. I just add the powder to the room temp water and then shake it and I have never had it explode. I warm it up after it has been shaken. (If I do warm it up, I usually just give it to her at room temp.) I am using a reduced lactose formula and I noticed it has less bubbles.

I shake the bottles without the tube and teat in them - I just put the orange bit, then the white disk and white screw top and shake really hard about 15 times then dismantle it and put the tube and teat in and put the cap on and then cool it down in a jug of water.

I mix it in storage bottles aswell and then poor the milk into the bottles.

i used doctor brown bottles in my job as a nanny and we used to make up the whole days feeds in a massive measuring jug, mixed with a whisk then just poured them into the bottles.

i have dr browns bottles i mix mine with a spoon that seems to work . violet xx

dosen,t this cause more air bubbles which is the point of the bottles to stop more wind which causes colic . violet xx

We don't seem to be having any problems with it so far, it says on the box of aptamil milk that we use that you should shake the mixture for 10 seconds.

Before doing this the milk just wasn't blending and there was bits of dry milk stuck to the inside of the bottle.

No more colic yet! Hopefully never again!
