Well I am totally pi55ed off :hissy: :hissy: :hissy: . I went to the dr again 3 weeks ago and was being referred to Jessops in Sheffield to the FS. I now get a letter this morning that she's looked into it further and because of the way referral works I need to go back to her to get medication to start my period and then do all the bloods. She told me there that she would refer me as she knows I have problems and PCOS and now I'm told I have to do the bloods :hissy: before referral. She's gone back on what she said

And I've been patiently checking the post each morning for this!!

I presume this is so my FS doesn't have to do them?

So not only has it taken 3 weeks for her to tell me this, but now I am not getting a referral any time soon. Also means I have to arse around making excuses at work to my suspicious department about why I need to go to the doctors again, and then again for cd1, then again for bloods, then again for cd21, then for the results - so an extra 4 appointments I could have done with not having.

Am sooooooo angry. :hissy: Must be the way my PCT works but will ask when i shout on the phone on monday. Doubt I'll get a FS appointment this year now........... Grrrrrr

Can you sense I am angry??!!!

that's really bad. cant they use your previous results?

i haven't actually had bloods done before. I had a scan which confirmed PCOS. Just angry that I was soooo happy I was being referred and now I'm not

Is it worth asking for the referral to be sent, because you're already diagnosed? That way you wont have towait as long, as there''ll probably be a waiting list. By the time the results are ready, you should be nearer the top.

yup I think I'll do that. Hopefully when I see her she can explain all this to me, and I'll make sure I have my list of questions answered.

I think you have to have bloods done to go with a referral, thats what my GP told me anyway, sorry you weren't given the right info at your appointment though and theres now a delay

thanks hun, just guessing this is how my PCT works, as there are other girls on here who get sent to the gyno much easier.

Hi hun, what a nightmare! Ask if she will send the referall letter anyway and in the mean time you can get your bloods done. Its worth a shot.

will see if i can get her to phone me instead of going in as she knows what medication she wants to give me, that would be one less appointment to try and get out of work for xx

Ugh, that's frustrating. Hope you can work it out so you can have the bloods done while still being referred. Good luck hun. xx

I, too, had to have all of this bloodwork done before I was referred. It's part of the 'referral package' apparently, from GP to fertility specialist. She should have told you earlier, obviously, which is a pain in the arse, but it does seem to be the usual protocol for the GP to send the blood test results along with the referral form. I knew I was being referred but could not be referred until had had the testing done.

Good luck

thanks curlysue - surely she should be clued about this!! Must not get many patients with problems!

You'd be surprised.

I was told by a fertility 'specialist' that I had all kinds wrong with me and I was at danger of all sorts during IVF. None of it was true. You would think they'd get their facts right before worrying us sick, right? Sometimes, unfortunately, they're not as 'on the ball' as they should be.

Sadly whether its done at docs or once referral has been made, you still have to have them done! I hadn't had AF in over 6 months and still had to have CD21 bloods!!!

but i am wondering what;s the point in cd21 bloods when I don't have a normal length cycle. She's not mentioned about me doing 21, 35, 47 etc, just 21. But if that's what she needs that's what she'll get until she tells me anything else

Good news though that it does appear i ovulated this month, finally!

have just looked at your chart, and that dip looks promising for implantation. If your temp gets back up to 36.8, I'd recommend testing :)
