Hi ladies

So I had an emergency c section with my first.
Basically what happened was.. My water broke at 3 am
On her due date.. Oct 27 2012.. I Got to the hospital around 5:30 am and they said I'm only 1 CM dilated.. and told me to walk around.. I was having very bad
contractions tho.. My pain tolerance level is really low as well.. Well I walked
N screamed cus the pain felt like I was gonna die so I begged for the epidural..
I finally got it at 11 am.. and felt like I was in heaven ..so they kept checking how dilated I am.. The most I was.. was 8 cm...
so around 8:30 pm they said they're going to have to do an
Emergency c section .. Because the babys heart rate kept dipping as well and
The baby was "stuck"

so my beautiful baby girl was born at 9:38 pm on oct 27 2012
:)

Well I wasn't planning on getting pregnant so fast and was totally
Shocked when I found out I am.. But we were still happy.. As its a blessing from God :)
I seen my Obgyn at 18 weeks (the same one who seen me throughout my daughters pregnancy and also was there for my labor and did my c section)

Well she said she wants me to do a VBAC
This time and said that she feels I'm healed and ready
She is a good doctor and has Been one for 30 years or so.

When I first found out I'm pregnant with # 2 I thought Forsure id have a planned Csection and honestly I was fine with it.. now my dr said VBAC.. Of course now I think if I can deliver normally.. That would be great cus it takes less time too heal... and My first daughter will be 14 months old then.
What I'm really scared of is... going through labor.. contractions n then having another emergency
Csection.. that's my biggest fear.. I'd rather have a planned one in that case .. but I just won't know?

so is there anything I can do to be more dilated ? Has anyone been through this before.. Having a Vbac after 14 months?

Any tips, suggestions, advice

Thank u!

Congrats on your pregnancy!

Unfortunately you can't do anything to dilate more (I got to 9cm then went back to 6cm), but if they feel that you'd have a successful vbac then it's definitely worth considering. Like you say healing time is much quicker and, personally, I'd love that feeling of getting to push lo out then have them immediately on your chest. That's the one thing that I feel I was "robbed" of with my emcs.

Are you in the uk?

If you are, then even if they want you to have a vbac you can still opt for a planned section. It's completely your choice.

I think the choice of vbac or planned section is always a tough choice after an emcs because you're always thinking "what if"; what if the same happened as before and I have to have another emergency or what if I choose a planned and would have been able to have a successful vbac?

It's so hard!! Bloody labour being so unpredictable!!

I don't think anything will be affected by you being 14 months apart with your births, I think you'll be fine.

I'm not ttc for a while yet, but I think I'm swinging towards a planned section at this moment in time. For me because my labour was non progressive, they kept me on the induction ward when I was in labour for 5 hours because there was no space on labour ward and because I seem to harvest a big baby (I know it can be different but I'm going by stereotypically your babies get bigger, this one was over 10lbs). But anything could change.

I think it's tricky, weigh up your pros and cons. Also think about your emcs experience this time, was it awful? Was it ok? How would you feel if you had a similar labour as before and then needed another emcs? Would you be ok with that?

I would scrap the pain from the labour - you'll get that every time (unless you have a planned) but that's what the epi is for :)

Good luck xx
