Hiya girlies, just looking for some advice again lol

Basically Ollie has a feed between 7pm-8pm, has a bath n goes down. We had been picking him up around 11pm-12am and feeding him whilst he was sleeping. He would then sleep right through until around 5am-6am which was fabulous!

However he's has oral thrush the past few days so we've been feeding quite erratically coz he'll only take a few ounces here n there coz his tongue is sore so we've been skipping on the dreamfeeding coz we havent wanted to disturb him when he was eventually settled n sleeping. He's then been waking around 2am for a bottle and then again around 5ish.

This has made me think, obv when we're dreamfeeding him its gr8 for us coz we're getting a sleep right through but we're not the priority anymore, im now worried that coz we're feeding him whilst he's asleep he'll be used to having a full tummy all night so when we come to getting him into a routine of going down around 8ish n sleeping right through he just wont coz he'll be wondering why his tummy isnt full coz we wont be dreamfeeding....

I really dunno if anyone will understand what im meaning lol not being very clear! im just obv trying to look forward to when we get him into a proper routine, he's only 5 weeks atm so we're following his routine which already is gr8...just dunno if by dream-feeding him so that we get a sleep right through we're being detrimental to getting him in a routine...

anyhoo if you do understand and can offer advice it'd be really appreciated xx

I did that with Jake kind of like topping him up before bed and I don't know if this had anything to do with it, but the night feeding was still going on until 8 months. He needed one feed through the night... like I said, I don't know if it had anything to do with it or not, just my experiences :) I can't see it doing anything though honestly, as your LO would probably wake soon after for a feed anyways :)

HI Hun,
I never did the dream feed I did try but Carmen was way too sleepy to suck from the bottle lol. She went down to sleep about 6-7PM and had a feed 3 and then 5 AM but She dropped her 3AM feed quite quick and sleeps from 7-8PM to 6-7AM. As your bubba is only 5 weeks old its normal for them to wake at night and ask for food. I think Carmen dropped her 3AM feed about 8 or 9 weeks old. But your are her mummy and you would know Him best.

I always did a dream feed with Lucie and like you say it fab as they have that last bottle and sleep through till early morning.I always gave it at the same time no matter what time she had her earlier bottle, as it just topped her up.As she got into more of a routine we brought it to 10pm. At about 5 months i was still giving her a dreamfeed at 10, but she started not wanting her morning bottle and was going till 10am the next morning. So basically she dropped her morning bottle. So after a few days of her doing this i didn't give her the dreamfeed at 10, so her last bottle was at 7 and she slept through till 7 the next morning and that has been the last of the dreamfeed. So we have not had any problems Lucie has kinda dropped the dreamfeed herself, so for us it really worked. I would do what works best for you. Hope this helps!

Sorry to gatecrash and be really thick.... when you say dreamfeed, do you mean feeding without really waking them up at your bedtime??

xx

lol not at all hun i didnt know what it was for ages! lol yeah basically we pick Ollie out of his moses basket n feed him whilst he's sleeping, give him a gentle wind (which he never needs coz he takes the milk so calmly n gently lol) x

I used to give Chloe a fream feed but I could kind of tell she wanted it, by sleepy movements / noises etc and eventually she just naturally dropped it all by herself.
