My lo is 11 days old and is finishing her 150 cc botles since today! She weights 3860 gram (born with 42+1 week, 3800 gram, lost 60 gram the first 5 days and gained 120 gram) and grew 2 centimeter since her birth, according to the midwifes coming around (you know, the first 10 days) she's drinking really well, but everywhere else I read (online) that 150 cc (5 oz) is WAY too much for her body and will give her kidneyproblems, she's only supposed to drink 70 cc (2.5 oz)..The thing is..She EATS, if we put less in the bottle she cries that she's still hungry..She is REALLY alert but..I dont know..OH said it might be a growspurt, but they dont have that till they're 5-6 weeks old, right??

My advice would be to stop thinking about what she 'should' be eating and just feed her on demand. There is a growth spurt at around 2 weeks to compensate for the time at the beginning where they're sleepy after birth.

Just go with it, feed her if she's hungry, and disregard the scales and the charts. Enjoy your LO. As long as she's happy, that's all that matters.

Congratulations xxx

Not true!

My DS ate 6 oz from birth and I was told by the hospital pediatrician that it was WAY too much. When we visited his primary care pediatrician (who has been a doctor for 40+ years) she told me very different. Babies generally stop eating when their full and if they are having belly issues it's obvious.

If she is straining, gassy, spits up, gags, etc then be concerned. But if she is having no bad symptoms and is pooing/eating well then why worry? She sounds healthy to me. ;)

Congrats.

Health visistor indeed said its completely normal! She sometimes eat 7 and sometimes even 9(!) oz now, but will only drink 2-3 oz at the next feed, so she knows her on pattern ;) She likes to fart (oh dear..:p) but other than that..She doesn't spit a lot up (even after the 9 oz bottle she only gave back a little mouthful) and she weighs almost 9 lbs now and grew almost 2 inches since birth (health visitor was so pleased :D) She can also lift her head up by herself now and turn it around and she was trying to lift herself up the other day (not her head, but her body..Wanting to crawl already, bless her)

I first thought it couldve been reflux, but health visistor said she looks healthy plus putting on the right amount of weight..So Im a bit less worried now
