Hi  my first post in baby club!

My daughter was a week old yesterday and she has patches of really dry, peely skin around her chest, armpits, arms and a little bit on her wrists, not worried as she was born at 41+2 and I think it's pretty normal?

Just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to get rid of it or what works best?

Thanks xxx

Totally normal, we just left it and it went away in its own within a couple of weeks. Congratulations on your new LO.

Congrats hun :cloud9:

Yeah pretty normal to answer your question xxx

Mine was also like this, especially around the ankles and wrists. She was also almost a week overdue and I was told it was much more severe in overdue babies as they are generally born after all the vernix has been absorbed, though they all have a full body peel soon after birth. :)

We used ointments and stuff but nothing much helped. Olive oil reduced the appearance of it for a time though. In the end, it just went away on its own.

Yip I agree with op olive oil works wonders recommended by midwife!x

Just leave it alone, they shed that skin, it is normal, all babies do it and it is not down to dry skin. :) HV's and MW's said leave it. I did and it went completely an his skin was perfect after, not dry.

It is normal :) James had quite a lot of it. We just used coconut oil a few times and it soon went away :)

Coconut oil or olive oil (but not on the face). It does eventually disappear. I remember days where I couldn't wear dark colours because I'd have skin all over me after holding D

Yeah my wee one had this too! I was told by the midwives to put olive oil on but I was speaking to a dermatologist at my baby club and they told us never to put olive oil on a baby so I don't know! We used epiderm which was brilliant, you can get it on minor ailments I think.

Yep very normal. Some babies have it more than others and some babies don't have it at all!

I think applying olive oil helps it should disappear soon x

I always put a few drops of lavender or aloe vera oil in to my LO's baths when they were little xx
