hiya, my midwife is coming to do my homebirth assessment a week on monday (26th) it dawned on me today that i wont be 37weeks by then! are they lip servicing me or are they actually being supportive? has anyone else had their assessment before 37weeks?

My widwife said she will arange to do mine at my 24 week assesment

Had mine at 35 weeks. That's when I changed my mind and wanted a homebirth. x

I'm due mine tomorrow, I'll be 30wks

ah ok, i was under the impression from my last pregnancy that my local nhs wont entertain the idea until after 37weeks :)

Im having mine tomorrow morning hopefully and im 36+3 - providing nothing holds her up. She has warned me its quite negative however says its the paperwork that makes it like that and not the midwives. My midwifes are actually trying to get more expactant mums to go for homebirth but some aren't trained or are just against xx

Round here it can vary quite a bit depending on their schedules but it is almost always done before 37 weeks because if you go into labour any time after that date then they will, in theory, support your home birth so they need to be sure everything is in place. I had a client last year who looked like she was going to go into labour early and her midwifery team said they'd support her at home from 36 weeks. As it happened she had her baby before then so we never got to test the theory, but it was good to know.

Hope it goes well!

Gina.

I was told the main things they are checking for as to see if an ambulance can get up your road, make sure you dont live in a 10th storie flat with no lift and to check the clenliness of your home.

i know why they are coming i have had one before it was just stressed to me last time that they didnt do it until 37 weeks here.

They could have changed the policy recently  37weeks seems a bit short notice to me considering they have to deliver you birth kit and what not

yeah i remember thinking with faiths pregnancy that it was a bit silly, who knows! my hospital is under pressure at the moment for being frankly dangerous so maybe things have recently changed

I'm having mine on the 28th then they bring the 'pack' on the 10th of August me thinks :)
