Hi I wonder if anyone knows the answer to this. I asked friends they didn't and haven't yet asked a doctor.
I started my periods early: when I was 10 years and 10 months . Does this mean that for me my reproductive age is different to someone who started menstruating at 13?
I am 37 now and trying to conceive. Would that mean it would be as if I was 40... in terms of difficulty conceiving ? Thanks.

I started my period a week after my 10th birthday, I actually have asked my FS this very question and he said if you start your period young you will not go through menopause earlier then someone who started later. I'm 37 as well and have low AMH so I thought maybe because I started so young it would make a difference but apparently it doesn't have an impact at all

What is FS? Fertility specialist?
I actually didn't do any hormonal tests recently are they a good idea to do? I'm glad to know that it doesn't influence how early you start. Thank you for the information

I've actually read somewhere, I don't recall where anymore, that women who start their periods later (like at 16/17) are more likely to have early menarche. I would have thought early start, early stop and late start, late stop, but apparently that's not the case.
My mom started at 16 and had an early menopause at 42. I expect it will be the same for me. I was also 16 when I got my first period.
As far as fertility, my mom accidentally got pregnant and had my brother at 40, so it didn't effect her fertility.

Thanks Seity, that's good to hear. I started at 12...My mom is 56 and going through menopause - she has irregular periods but still gets them. So hopefully I take after her and am still fertile well into my late 40s.
