I was wondering when you decide your LO is ready to be weaned or have cows milk and other stuff like that....

Do you take into consideration how early or late they were when born?

Amelia was weaned at 4 &1/2mnths but she was also 2wks late, so if she was born at 38wks then i would have weaned her at 5 & 1/2 mnths....does that make sense?

I just wondered how many of you took in to consideration your LO's arrival date for their milestones and introducing them to certain things....

Do you think it makes much of a difference or not?

Good question. Marlie was almost 2 weeks late, but I don't tend to think it affects her development. I do know though that she was ready to eat at 5 months even though I wanted to wait until 6, so maybe that is why?

I know it affects babies who are born early though.

Not really but Hannah was born the day after her due date :) Hubby always says she's advanced for her age (although that could just be the proud daddy talking )

maddi was over a week late but i don't normally think about it, i normally just go with what she tells me, and the signs she gives out x

Max was weaned at 3 months on baby cereal due to his reflux , he now gets cows milk 2 times a day

If it's anyu help, Molly was 3 months early, and I have been told that when the time comes, we go by when she was actually born, not her due date x

Mark was 2 wks early (and we know when he was conceived ha ha so he def was!)

But no I just count him as the actual age he is. I might think differently if he was 2 months early but 2 wks isn't very much imo.

Tigs was born on her due date, but I don't think it makes much difference either hun xx

I'd not thought of it like that till now... So it has never influenced my decisions. All of mine were late anyway, lazy like their Dad!

hii am knew to this site so not really sure what am doin ha ha . thought would join as love looking at every ones questions and advice. my beautiful boy is 1 in 5 days! he was nearly two week late too. but never really thought it made a diff been on ows milk since 10 month. x

its interesting to know.... I had never thought about that before :)

The only reason i really thought about it to be honest was when i started weaning Amelia, i thought people would comment and say oh 4.5 mnths is too early, but then i thought well if she was 2wks early she would be 5.5mnths and i doubt anyone would say anything then.

In the grand scheme of things it doesn't make a huge difference i dont think but in those early weeks i think it does to some extent, those babies born hugely early well i definitely think it makes a huge difference.

x

Well Poppy was 6 weeks early and my h/v told me to wean as normal. I gave her baby rice at 24 weeks but didn't introduce veg etc till she was 26 weeks. She seemed more than ready for it and gobbles up everything I give to her but I am taking it quite slowly (probably TOO slowly really, probably need to speed up a bit!)
