Does anyone have any experience travelling within the UK on Easyjet with a baby?
I'd like to take Darragh across to my parents in December, but I'm toying with the idea of driving and getting the ferry because of things like having the carseat when we're there.
I've heard that some domestic flights let you take a carseat on with you, but I cant imagine being able to take the base too! It weighs a tonne!
Also, do you have to pay for a baby usually? and how do they travel? On your knee? I don't know if I'd be too nervous for it to work!

I haven't flown with easy jet and haven't needed to take a carseat. We flew BA and didn't have to pay for bubs and yes she had to sit on my lap. With most airlines you can take one baby item to be put into the hold, we chose the buggy for this. Sorry not much help.

I am flying in December (can't remember which airline, might be easyjet) and the policy is that you can check in two baby related items (out of carseat, stroller, travel cot) free of charge. There is usually a £20 fee for a baby and yes they do have to sit on your knee. On better airlines there are skycots that you can book but they are really only any good for small babies that would fit in a bassinette. Look up the easyjet policy on their website

I've flown with ds1 and LO within the last week with easyjet. LO isn't supposed to be allowed any hand baggage (although we had 4 bags with us and no one commented) any baby under 2 costs £20 each way and sits on your knee for the flight with a seatbelt attached to yours. When checking in you just tell them that you have buggy/pram carseat which they will provide a luggage label for, you can leave your carseat at check in (usually at the outsize luggage area) and bring your buggy/pram to the aircraft and leave it at the bottom of the steps to be loaded.
I gave always found it easy (no pun intended!) to travel with my children via easyjet (we live in n Ireland so it's easier than long car journies and ferries IMO)
Good luck and safe flight

We flew with easyjet to Poland. It was £20 each way for her, she sat on our lap. Ahe didnt have any baggage allowance but you can take 2 items for free. We took her pram base and her car seat which attaches to the base. It meant the car seat had to be used as her "buggy" for the week but was handy as we had hired a car and knew our car seat was safe. Most car seats will attach without the isofix base and its just as safe if you read the instructions. We use isofix but managed just fine xxx

Just wanted to add that easyjet are pretty baby friendly. On both our flights they boarded us first and because there were empty seats were fine with us hogging a row of three - in fact they just kept asking people to move down the plane for us if they looked like they were going to sit there. I think they have allocated seating now though so that might not happen anymore.

I personally wouldn't take the carseat as it goes in the hold (even if you take it to the gate as part of your pushchair). You wouldn't know if it was thrown around or not. Our metal suitcase handle was dented in our last flight - would worry me that the seat wouldn't be safe to use afterwards.

I flew easyjet with LO in August. First of all they have a flat charge of 20 each way for an infant. They don't get a baggage allowance but you can check in 2 items (I checked in the carseat and pushchair). Not sure about the base, can the carseat go into the car without a base at all? We don't have isofix in our car so never bought a base. Maybe if you attach the 2 together when you check them in you would get away with it???

Good luck!

We couldnt take a car seat as we hadnt booked a seat, but you can take it up to the gate and check it from there. i think it cost £20 each way for freya and they let those with kids under 5 board after the speedy borders but before everyone else.

Thanks for all your replies =D
