Hi ladies,

Bought a v-tech teddy on ebay (buttons on tummy) but the teddy bits are quite dirty.

Not happy as it was not mentioned on the description.

Any recomendations on cleaning it as 1st thing she will do is eat it.

I have tried milton and hot water (says surface wash only)

TBH there isnt a lot more you can do if it says surface wash only - does the electric bits come off at all? Personally I would dunk the teddy bits in a hot hand wash x

I never considered Milton; would that change the colour of the material? I think it contains bleach. OItherwise I would use a washing detergent, or Napisan which is supposed to disinfect  have you contacted the seller? I wouldn't buy second hand plush toys because you can't wash them, but she certainly should have mentioned that it was dirty.

Is this like the VTECH Alfie bear? My daughter has this and the only way I have found to clean it is, to wipe straight away. TBH she spit up milk once and you can still see where. Is there anyway you could contact the seller and ask how she would clean it? :flower:

You can get milton wipes / anti bac wipes etc, give it a good going over with them :flower: Helps avoid water getting into bits it shouldn't. I hate it when people sell things unclean!

I have a Spotbot that I use on the carpet, couches, and any other fabric (like a toy) to get them clean.

yes its alfie teddy a friend had one she was obsessed with so i though i would get one.

Milton wipes no colour change main trunk of body is electronic so no washing machine just dunked in hot water as much as a dare but still looks gruby so i will have a look at the carpet cleaner stuff although needs to be non-toxic if shes going to suck it :)

have you tried car upholstry cleaner? it's like a spray foam, it sits on the material and wait 5 mins and then wipe away...works well on seats and other stuff that can only be surface cleaned. just a suggestion

xx

I would talk to the buyer from ebay and if they dont replace your money then I would contact the people from paypal. I wouldn't use a toy thats icky no matter how well it was cleaned. It might have been exposed to some sort of disease that can be transferred to your little one

I always use handwash powder and hot water, then a clear rinse then a babywipe lol just so that when it goes in his mouth it's the babywipe if anything that he'll taste. Alfie's head I'd use handwash and hot water, his body why not try a nailbrush with handwash and hot water or even washing up liquid.

Ugh, i hate sellers like this! I bought a baby einstein gym for my LO from ebay and it was covered in all sorts of grime. There was even mould on the pole bits. I was so horrified that i threw it immediately outside in the bin! I complained to the seller who said in her opinion that it was in excellent condition so refused to refund me the £40 but i eventually got my money back after opening a dispute on ebay.
Sorry...i know that doesnt actually help with your question about the bear! I usually give LO's toys a wipe over with anti-bacterial wipes if his toys get a bit yukky.

thanks guys i will be leaving some negative feedback which sticks worse that a bad smell in a lift :)

I have had a look at the carpet cleaning stuff and its all toxic so i will attack it with a nail brush as you suggest and some anti-bac hand wash and when i think its clean i will milton it again.... :(

ACTUALLY NO HUSBAND CAN DO IT :)

(hes given me his cold and i just hope Harriet has not got it)
