dd is almost 11 months old and she just recently started getting eczema pretty badly. She also has diarrhea on and off lately. Could this be due to teething (she just got a tooth yesterday) or more likely a food allergy? I can't figure out why all of a sudden. SHe has always had sensitive skin, but I had never noticed eczema. I already use perfume and dye free stuff. She also has a sore like thing on the back of her leg that will not heal! Any advice? Thanks in advance!

Mine definitely has eczema flare ups when she's teething. It really messes with her skin. It used to upset her stomach somewhat too, though this has diminished as she has matured.

We are in the UK and use Epaderm - the thick ointment type, though the thinner cream is good too. We tend to apply it to the backs of her legs, ankles, neck, etc. every time she has a nappy change, and any time she starts scratching. It has really helped rehydrate her skin, and you can't really see that she has eczema any more, though she still gets itchy occasionally and asks for 'key' (her word for cream!).

If your LO has a sore it might be worth whacking Sudocrem if you can get it or something similar on it until it heals up and then using an emollient to soften the skin and help reduce any inflammation and itching.

Thanks so much! I am going to see if i can get these creams in the US!

Any emollient intended for dry skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis could be good as long as it is regularly applied! :) It may take a while to see results, but with consistency and perseverance it's totally possible to get eczema under control. :)

The cold/central heating might be drying her skin out more? Aveeno cream & bath oil (prescribe) and bria organics balm and bath oil were wonderful for us. My son had really bad, stubborn eczema for months but has beautiful skin now.
