Hi girls.
Hubby came home the other day in love with the name Eire (air-eh) which is the Irish word for Ireland.

I do love how it sounds I just fear it may appear silly to people to name
Our daughter after our country??

Do you like how it sounds?
What about the meaning?

I'm just looking for a public reception of the name really. Thanks!

Do you still live in Ireland? I like the name, and the meaning, but it would probably work better if you had moved away from Ireland rather than still living there. Having said that it's not a massive issue I don't think. what about Erin as a more subtle alternative?

We do live in Ireland yes.
We know 8 Erins already so decided against it. :)

How about eira? This is welsh for Snow and pronounced "Ay-rah" x

tbh i actually quite like it. but i agree with whiby, it'd be better if you had moved from Ireland x

That's good, if there are that many Erins and Erin means Ireland too, then Eire shouldn't be an issue :)

I love it !! I also like the welsh suggestion have to remember these names for future x

Hi honey, hope you and your family are well, I live in England and am absolutely in love with ireland I was thinking if I had a baby girl I would call her Eire Marie or Eire May what would you say xx

I mean do you think it would work or would people think it's silly xx

I would assume I'd be calling her "Ear".
Also the spelling reminds me of the Eyrie (Game of Thrones) LOL.

why dont you just change the spelling Aira

people wont associate it as much with Ireland
