I had to have an emergency c-section with my daughter as i wasnt progressing, i had very high BP and she wasnt 'coming down' any, i got to 9cm! she was 9lbs 6oz when she was born and my whole birthing experience was a nightmare! this time around i have asked for an ELCS so i have to go for growth scans to roughly see how big this baby will be and we will decide at 36 weeks whether to section or try a vaginal delivery. I want a vaginal, but i am so scared right now as my bump is humongous for being only 25 weeks! i wasnt this big with my daughter, i look way over 30 weeks! all the boys in both sides of OH's family and mine have been big boys, raging from 9lbs-13lbs!!! i can only think about how i'll never be able to push him out, has anyone had an ELCS because they're babies were measuring so big? and was the estimated weight correct?

Was induced with my Son who was estimated to be about 9lb. He was 10lb 5 and i had a section because i failed to dilate.

WIth my 2nd she was predicted to be big, although i wanted a VBAC i actually opted for a ELCS due to her size. She was 9lb 15

I never got offered growth scans whilst preggo as my MW never picked up on the fact LO was quite big. I went in for a normal vaginal delivery but got stuck at 8cm where they then picked up on how big she was and they said i wouldn't progress anymore and i had to have an emcs. My Lo was 9lb 2 so im quite glad i had the section as i cant imagine pushing her out, she was massive! I think if i ever had another baby i would want a VBAC but probably would end up having an elcs as chances are i would have another big bubba!

I had gestational diabetes, a HUGE bump, I measured almost 5 feet around my middle! Growth scans said huge baby. So elective section it was...she's not huge at all...so scans were off for me.

I had c-sec with both of mine. First was failure to progress after I was induced and second was elective. They told me my son was 9lb 6oz at 38 weeks! He was born at 41 weeks weighing 8lb 9oz- So yes they got that wrong! He was just very long!

Im scheduled for a C-Section @39 weeks because at 36 weeks my baby was weighing in at 9lbs5oz.

I had a c section because my baby was breech. But he was thought to be a big baby for half the pg. I had a sono 3 hrs before my c section.....he was estimated to be 8lbs 11oz (38.5 weeks). The ob said he thought the sono was wrong and that he was bigger. He weighed 10 lbs even. So he really was a big baby. :)

Your story is quite similar to mine and I have to make a decision tomorrow about whether to try for a VBAC or go for an ELCS.

I had an EMCS with my DD after getting to 9cm and failing to progress all the way, it went pear shaped- my uterus collapsed and I lost a lot of blood (ended up with a GA after she was out so they could try and stop the bleeding). They think her size may have contributed to the problems, she was 9lb 7 1/2oz.

So, I have a growth scan tomorrow and if this LO is estimated to be bigger they will recommend an ELCS. I really don't want one and I'm terrified she'll be predicted bigger but then come out smaller, I'll be devastated if that's the case. I've just heard too many stories of scans being way out and I'm desperate to try for a VBAC without putting my baby's life, or mine, at risk.

I just hope the scan is quite definitely one way or the other, bigger than 10lb (ELCS no brainer!) or 8lb or smaller (VBAC!!). If they say 9-10lb I'll be so torn.

Anyway, sorry for hijacking, hope things turn out ok for you!

My first was 9lb 13.5oz and was never picked up that he was a big baby, I failed to progress and ended up with a section.

I have just had my second son and all through my pregnancy they were reconmending natural, I said yes providing i went into labour on my own and they could guarantee baby was not big again. I had a growth scan at 37 weeks and he apparently weighed just under 7lbs so they were predicting a 8-8.5lb baby at full term, he was born by elective section at term because i hadnt gone into labour and weighed 10lbs 11.5oz!
After they said to me the growth scans are only an estimate and can be up to 2lbs out!

I had an EMCS with Thomas after failing to progress beyond 5cm. He was 9lb with a particularly big head! Quite early on in my pregnancy with Jake I could tell he was gonna be even bigger & so I requested to see the consultant regarding an elective section & he thankfully agreed at 36 weeks & I was booked in for 39 weeks when Jake was delivered at 9lb 13oz. I wasn't offered any growth scans & at no point during either pregnancy did anybody (other than me!) suggest that the boys looked like they were going to be above average weight.

My first was 10 lbs 7 ounces and although he is only a little over 4 weeks DH and i have discussed having another one.
The dr who delivered him (forceps delivery) said we should seriously consider having another as 2nd babies tend to be bigger.... I want another one day and i would also like a vaginal birth again (god knows why as i was so sore after having Isaac) so i think when i get pregnant again i would ask about being induced at say 38 weeks instead of a c-section or the trauma of having a birth like Isaac's (he was stuck and despite pushing for what seemed liked forever he struggled to come down).
Isaac was born at 40 +6 and we had growth scans which said he may be 8 and a half to 9 lbs so the growth scans were off for us.
