I soooo can't get motivated to even think about Elf on The Shelf this year :coffee:
I feel like I exhausted all of my cool ideas last year  What's everyone else up to?

Here's what we did last year...

He also made coloured milk, scaled the Christmas tree, left out candy cane seeds to plant, and did a whole lot of hiding (when Mummy basically ran out of ideas)

I love the snowman door, might pinch that idea. This is the first year that we are doing it so have plenty ideas at the moment.

Have you tried Pinterest? That's where I've found most of mine. :)

I'm too lazy to start doing it properly and I'm worried it'll just give DS ideas of how to cause his own mischief lol. So our elf will be bringing a little gift box with him, and every morning he will have filled the box with a little treat for DS. Our version of an advent calendar. And some days there'll be a message inside telling him we'll be doing something christmassy that day :flower:

I've got an elf for this year but I'm still not entirely sure what I'm meant to do with it :haha:

elf people, LOL! That made me chuckle!

This will be my third year having our elf to visit, and I get where you're coming from. I am looking forward to it, though, and will probably recycle some ideas! Havent written a list of plans yet, but will once I know when I am working, as that makes a difference to what I have time to do - on those days our elf tends to hide, too, or bring a little present like a new christmas book or DVD. I have got ideas from pinterest, too. Here are someoff the top of my head :

On the first day he always arrives with a letter from father christmas and hangs and fills the advent stockings
Make a sock snowman and leave supplies for the kids to make some
Make paper snowflakes and stick them to the window
Take photos of himself (i'm calling them 'elfies'!) and swap them for the memory card in the digital photo frame
Hang Hayden's pants on the christmas tree (did this last year and he thought it was hilarious!)
'Snowball fight' with cotton wool balls
Bring a load of pine cones for us to turn into decorations
Start a paper chain for the kids to finish

Can't think of any more specific ones right now, but generally our elf does a lot of craft projects and playing with their toys (like racing other toys on toy cars, forming a band with other toys, using their musical instruments, riding on a toy train etc). There are loads of ideas on pinterest.

I've got loads of little cute gifts from card factory this year for ours to bring.

I'm doing a kindness fairy this year. Similar to the elf but it's a fairy (obviously, lol) and the focus is more on doing kind things for others rather than a mischief causing or silly elf. My 7 year old loves fairies so I think she'll get a lot of fun out of this.

I have the whole month planned, the first day our fairy is bringing a note of introduction and december 1st boxes/bags. After that she'll ask them to do things like make cookies for our neighbors, donate toys/clothes to charity, give money to bell ringers at stores, choose a toy for a child in need, make a bird feeder and feed the birds in the yard, free hug day, make a gift for someone else, etc.

I'm really excited to start this new tradition!

I have written down 24 ideas although today my husband has come up with another one. Our Elf will bring the two playmobile asvent calendars on the 1st and the Christams Eve boxes on the 24th. Between then he will bring a few other treats like books, a Lego activity pack, and a Dr Facilier mug and individual hot chocolate. We we went to Disney my son wanted a Christmas decoration he saw and we bought it withough him knowing so he will be getting that from the Elf too. Today we got the IKEA doll set and one day our Elf will set up his own living room and he new day use mini Christmas decorations for it. I am hoping to make some Elf clothes and make a mini washing line. I am going to do something with glow sticks too but not sure what yet.

Last year our big prank was him shaving half of my husbands head while he slept (not really, my husband was in in the joke!) but this year we won't be doing much in the way of pranks.

Ooh some ace ideas, thanks ladies  LOVE the elf washing line!
Ours mostly does fun stuff really and brings the odd treat (though I begrudge a month of presents leading up to a day full of presents :haha:). I think we'll do some 'kindness' ones too. I'll get myself on Pinterest!

First year we're doing it so I'm stealing some of your ides ladies :flower:
I'm so excited, can't wait until the 1st haha!

Saw this on the sainsburys website and thought you you ladies... I think it's mega cute!!!

Our elf doesn't arrive at the start of December, Misty Mistletoe comes around the 10th so that I only have to find two weeks worth of ideas.
Misty does like to participate in a spot of baking. I usually pick up a pack of mini gingerbread men (disposing of the packing directly in the outside bin) put them in a tray, sprinkle a little icing sugar over them & leave lots of flour/baking stuff on the table.
Also the mr kipling white fancies with a note saying they are a favourite at the north pole. x

Our elf brings our Dec. 1st box and will be bringing other little things up until Christmas. On other days he will be either hiding or something else that I come up with. Haven't really decided yet.

This is our first year. I'm thinking he will be mainly bringing craft boxes with instructions for a particular activity...I'm on maternity leave so want to make the most of being at home this Christmas in the lead up to it all.
He will be bringing Christmas jumpers for the three of them (and DH) on December 1st.
Also things like turning the milk a diff colour, hanging surprise decorations...the snowman fridge is on my list too xx

This is the first year we'll be doing it. Nico has sent his letter to Santa asking for an Elf called Ralph to come spend December with us.
We have decided to put up an Elf door at the end of the month so Ralph has a way of coming and going.

The first day he will bring an advent calender and one of the days he's going to bring Ninja Turtle baubles for the tree. I'm not sure of anything else yet but he will be involved in a lot of craft stuff.

Oh I like the coloured milk idea. Nice quick fun one.

I'm just not the kind of person who has the patience to do something fiddly like decorating cheerios as donuts.

Ours will mostly be suggesting activities - baking, ding-dong-dash to leave cookies with the neighbours (only the ones we already know like us!), donating to the food bank, dogs home, toy appeal, putting up the tree etc. Delivering the advent calendar and then probably just hiding most other days.

What do you ladies do for the north pole breakfast? If you do them of course :flower:

Thought this link might be useful for you elf on the shelf ladies :D

Ooh there's some awesome ones on that link! I looove skiing elf and super elf.
Our elf nearly never arrived today, I couldn't remember where I'd put him! :dohh: Just managed to find him at 7 o'clock this morning while Lucas was still in bed.

I've got one of these, I think when we put the tree up he's going to put it on and sit on the tree in it. If I get chance aswell he's going to crochet himself a little pair of boots.. I can probably drag that one out two days :haha:
