so how many of you ladies had to have a emcs and than had to have a section with their second child? i tried to have my daughter vaginally but she wouldnt come down the doc couldnt even assist her coming down.. so we had to have an emergency section... and ive been told if u have one you have to have another

I don't know what the procedure us in the US but here in the UK I was given the choice of an elective c section or a vbac. I tried for a vbac but ended up with a second emcs.

i was going to be allowed a vbac, i did not labour with my son, they needed him out. Then they paniced, and said my daughter had stopped groeing so i had to have another c section...she was a pound heavier than they thought!

Not sure if it's different in the US but i had an emcs and then i was offered an elective with my second if i wanted it. I didn't so i went for a VBAC and it was successful.

im hoping i get a second chance to push a baby out..

It depends on why you had a c-section.. I would recommend you finding a doctor or midwife who is willing to do a VBAC, most doctors in the US don't like taking the risk on VBAC but if it's something you feel strongly about I would fight for it.

A VBAC is always encouraged in New Zealand. I did have an elective the second time around though, because of gestational diabetes. Baby was meant to be a giant (she wasn't!).

VBACs are offered here. I can't have one due to complications in my last EMCS. But as long as everything went well in your EMCS, there is no reason to believe you couldn't have a VBAC.

In the UK I was given a letter saying that in most cases they recommend vbac, only in certain extreme circumstances would they recommend ELCS, and if a doctor hasn't talked to you then go for vbac.

Please remember that c-sections save lives. Trying for a vbac to the extent of risking a child's life or your own is not worth it. I would rather hold a healthy baby from a c-section than the horrific alternative. Try picking c-section babies out of a crowd of adults.

I understand your feelings but having read of a recent tragedy of someone determined at all costs and against medical advice to have a vbac, I only urge caution and pragmatism.

In must cases there are less risks with a VBAC than with a CS. If you want a VBAC, do lots of reseach and make your decision based on your history not what has happened to others.

i shall research.. i tend to over research sometimes..

my daughter was born 40+6 weighing in at 9lbs 6oz via emcs so this time round i was torn about what to do... i decided to have an elective csection and im so glad i did! my son was born 38+4 weighing 8lbs 3oz xx
