Ive been told a few times that an elective c-section tends to go a lot smoother (post surgery) than if you were to have an emergency c section:shrug: Who with the experience wants to add to this:winkwink:

Who here had an EMCS V.S the Elective C sections?
How smooth was the healing?
What were complications?
*ELECTIVE SECTIONS* Do you regret choosing this route as opposed to having a vaginal birth?
Or are you GLAD you had a section?

Thank you ahead of time for anyones help:flower::flower::flower:

Hi ya I have had both.

I had an emcs with my son, 36 hour labour, fully dilated, baby got stuck and went into distress.

I had a planned c section 16 may (last week) and it was so much better.

I was so tired after the emcs, I wasn't able to establish breast feeding. I needed to bottle feed so others could look after my son while I recovered. I ended up with a womb infection and felt rough for weeks. This definately affected me bonding with my son and I had mild pnd as result.

This time around, I was fully rested and prepared for my c section. The actual op was fine and I found the birth amazing. My daughter was able to come with me in recovery where we had skin to skin and she latched on straight away :)

The pain on day 2/3 was the same for the emcs and the planned c section. But I feel better in myself after the planned c section and have totally bonded with my baby. A week on and I feel so much better and am healing better with the planned c section compared with the emcs.

I did feel guilty not having a vaginal birth after my emcs. But I don't feel the same guilt about the planned c section. At the end of the day you are still giving birth, just in a different way :winkwink::flower:

I was actually just talking to my best friend about this earlier tonight. I have only had one baby, and she was born by EMCS. My friend had her first baby by EMCS and second by elective. She said that the healing with the elective one was a lot smoother and it was much less painful. She said the c-section itself took a lot longer and was more relaxed, and the atmosphere was a lot nicer, and on the whole, a much much better experience.

If I have another baby, I've been told I'd have to have a planned section (if I get far enough in the pregnancy for it not to be an emergency one next time!) so I'll be watching this thread!

I have had 2 emergency sections and 2 elective sections. After both of the emergency i had infections. The last 1 was 4 months ago and is only just feeling right after 3 infections! I found the scars from the emergency sections are bigger. Still not put me off though, still want more :)
