Anyway i thought this story was adorable and its put me in engagment brain. Wondered how ur OHs proposed, or if u did how or did u just decide?

My OH got a couple of friends and his best friend round to his for a BBQ, all getting merry and whatnot when we decided to go inside cos it was getting too cold outside We sat inside laughing and joking about what shite music OH was playing then he said he was going upstairs. Whilst he was going upstairs, his best mate was messing around with the music and put on 'Mr Big - next to be with you' then OH came back down more or less straight away. Everything sort of went into a blur then next thing i know, the song is still playing and he's infront of me on one knee asking if i'll marry him with a big sparkly white gold ring after i'd said yeah, he put it on my finger but was shaking like mad

Ok, you want the story, here it is!!!! Not what most people may class as how they want to get engaged but if you know us, it was perfect!!!!!!

We had been out at a shoot this morning and popped home to drop the stuff off before heading to town for some shopping. We got the bits we wanted to re-do the bathroom and then headed to good old Greggs for some quick lunch.

Headed back to the car and drove to "our" spot which is a lovely wooded area and we often sit in the car park there with some lunch talking and listening the footie on a weekend. Anyway, there we were, me looking like a tramp in my old faithful jeans, hoodie and ugg boots, covered in pasty crumbs and not a care in the world. We finished eating and my boy asked me if I had any Rennie (he suffers terrbily with indegestion!) and I said no so he went into his pocket and I was looking out the window.

Turned around and he was holding the most beautiful ring and just said, "Pops, will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me" and I just stared and the next thing I knew I was in tears and all I could muster was "are you kidding, is it real

I think because it was so unexpected I just couldn't see how it could be happeneing and I even thought he had found a toy ring or something!!!

After a few minutes he said "Pops, please say something" to which I squealed yes and he popped the ring on my finger and we had the biggest hug ever.....

We sat there just smiling for ages then I called my folks and almost deafened my poor Mumsy and then went to the inlaws and lots of tears ensued there too.

It is just the nicest feeling, I am amazingly happy and it was just perfect.

We aren't the sort to get togged up and go to posh restaurants so if he had done that it just wouldnt have been him or us. His style was just this and it was perfect.

Like he said, he wanted to get the surprise element and boy, did he do that!!

My ring he had made for me and it was supposed to be here on my birthday but the diamond came from SA and it didn't show up in time for the jewellers to make it. It is platinum and is a 1/2 carrat princess cut solitare and I love it soooooooooooooo much. I cant stop looking at it.

We'd been talking about it for a while, but didn't know when to become engaged. His parents are splitting up, but we thought well it's always gonna be emotional for all family (good and bad emotions) so lets just go for it!

It would be nice for him to propose, but in all honesty it just wouldn't be a surprise! We've been together for 5 years now, and talked about it for ages!

I'm a little worried about telling our parents though! We're ring hunting on Sunday

1: Agreement after discussion after 6 months meeting each other.

2:On a boat, on the upstairs deck balcony on our own on Loch Lomond, it was all mist on the Loch, as it was raining and everyone was downstairs inside. It was like movie, kissing in the rain.

3:I've been told to wait and see about my ring and we're going away in less than 3 weeks to Egypt, so I'm excited and have a feeling!

me & hubbby had been discussing marriage and children for a few months, we'd been together over a year but were still young (18) so when hubby proposed to me it was a shock! I had arranged for us to go for a meal, not too posh a place but we dressed up a bit and took a nice walk to the restaurant. After our meal hubby said he was going to the toilet and that i should look at the dessert menu. He went off and i picked up the menu, only to find a box inbetween it. I was so shocked i just sat there starting at the box, i could even open it but i knew what it was! Bless my shy hubby he was too scared to actually get down on one knee and say it. i was still in shock just staring at the box when he returned from the toilet. He said 'well open it then!' so i did, and he had written in gold ink on the inside of the box 'will you marry me?' and there was a lovely gold wishbone ring which he took out ouf the box and put on my finger, knowing the answer was yes before i even said anything! I had to hold back the tears, being in a public place, and i could stop shaking for hours after! It was really sweet!
