I had a smidge of spotting early on, noticed a bit of pink/brown here and there after bowel movements, nothing super concerning to my doc.

Had a large amount of red blood at 11 weeks, got checked out at hospital and all looked good. Emergency ultrasound tech just said baby looked fine and sent results to my doc, which I never did receive so assuming nothing was found. (normal early ultrasound doc didn't see any bleeds or anything out of the ordinary).

Ever since then I have had daily brown discharge- a lot more right after the bleed which makes sense but noticing some almost every time I go to the toilet.

Heard baby's heartbeat several times since, including last night, and have a check up on Wednesday. Just wondering if anyone else has had unexplained brown spotting into the second tri?

I had bleeding in the first tri but nothing in this tri. But brown blood is old blood so could be you're just getting rid off the old blood which caused the 11 week bleed. Easier said than done try not to worry. And welcome to second tri!! :hugs:

Maybe it is an underected hematoma that is bleeding out? That would explain the spotting. Sometimes they hide I heard.

Congrats on your current pregnancy Blackrain, it's great to see yet another lady back from 2013 :flower:

It could be a hematoma as they are pretty common. But I've also heard that a low placenta can also be the cause of unknown bleeding/old blood. Of course that is purely just a theory.

Don't worry too much. Brown is old & you've heared heartbeat! Had a hematoma in first trimester & it resolved, but sometimes it bleeds out instead.
Welcome to second trimester!!

I just had a day of brown spotting this weekend, and am going in for an ultrasound today. I have a feeling they won't see anything out of the ordinary, though. It seems like these things just happen sometimes, with no explanation, although it's definitely nerve-wracking when you're going through it! :hugs:

Thanks everyone. I've assumed it's nothing major but is definitely a nuisance, and is making me nervous to have sex as I know that will cause some spotting too. The second ultrasound he spent quite a while searching around so I would have hoped they would find a hematoma if it was there but who knows. I'm just ready for it to be done so I can relax!

Thanks missbabes, looks like there is a few of us that are back!

Diagnosis is a small subchorionic hematoma, doc said it's normal to still have spotting at this point. Just glad to finally have an answer haha.

I'm glad you have an answer finally! I had an ultrasound to check on mine and they couldn't see any reason for it, which is good, but also frustrating, since I don't know where it's coming from!

If it was only one day of brown spotting, it could be that maybe your cervix was irritated and bled a little? Only other thought I have given how far along you are.

That's what I thought, but I had red spotting yesterday after posting that. The weird this is, this is pregnancy #4, and I've never had problems with spotting before. I thought I had a cervix of steel at this point. :haha:

Oh that is weird! Well at least if they didn't find anything bad in your ultrasound, its likely nothing major!

Thanks. :flower: I figure I've just been overdoing it by lifting my kids too much. Thank goodness the weekend is almost here and DH can help!
