Estradiol results! Someone help!?

Hi All,

Doc rang and said she didn't know what the result meant in terms of not getting pregnant (helpful) but she could tell me that my Estradiol result was low at 80.

I keep reading different things on net and some sites are saying 80 is at the top of normal range? So how can it be low? Other sites say you would be wanting a result of 200 for a perfect follicular phase reading on CD2-4.

Am I low or high?

LH, FSH were well within normal (so she said!)

80 does seem low, but then it depends which country you're in as different countries use different units. My last reading was 919. I have been doing Napro and their advice is that it should be between 400-900 pmol/L. Mine is obviously a bit high.

I had a nurse tell me that the first time I was checked...turns out I just wasn't ovulating yet...and the numbers shot up a few days later when they retested. A lower estradiol might just mean it's not ovulation time for you yet.

Thanks Doodles but that result was from CD4 so not sure that will be the explanation. Thanks for replying though.

No, Doodles you could be right here as I have had a late ovulation this month (day 18 on a 32 day cycle) and so if they had tested day 6/7 they might have got a higher result?

i have always been tested for it at day 21. From doing Napro they class day 21 as you ovulation day +7 days. Why were you asked to get it done day 3? Usually as a guide to ovulation its progesterone that is tested at day 21.

No idea Cooch - fertility nurse requested FSH, LH and Estradiol on CD4 and then I have to have progesterone and Estradiol again on Day 21.

Urgh - I hate all this and I sense that I have a much longer journey ahead of me. For years I just knew it would be like this because I have always wanted children so badly.

Hi Billie, is yours done in pg or pmol? pmol values are higher.

Hi Sunshine - I honestly don't know - didn't know that was a factor and she didn't say. What would the reading me to you in pg and pmol? Do you have experience of this?

I just got my tests done yesterday and some came back today. my estradiol was 50 pg/mL For some reason they didn't post a range but I went and researched dr. Google.
