Hi, I've never posted in here but I'm Emily and my daughter Edie is nearly 11 months (eek!) FOB and I broke things off when I was pregnant because he was just all around lazy and emotionally abusive. He has an older son (age 3) from a previous relationship and now he has another girl pregnant, she seems nice and he seems to have changed some (sent me child support! ) they're expecting their first child together and since Edie is this babies half-sister they've invited us to the shower. I spoke with his oldest childs mother who is also going so I've decided to take Edie so she can be part of everything. How much should I spend on a gift and who should it be from-me or my daughter?

Don't know the Emily Post answer, but I would keep it around $20 and sign it from "Edie and her mommy." She should understand you are a single mother and need to keep it simple. Later, if you feel closer to her and want to give more, you can offer to watch the baby for a spell so she can get in a nap or a shower =)

I think you can go ahead and sign it from Edie and Emily. I would definitely keep it under $50. I didn't get more than that spent on me by any one close family member let alone someone I barely know. Also, if you don't know what to get a gift card is more than acceptable.

I'd get her a pack of diapers and wipes and maybe a blankie or something. I would keep it under $25.00. Oh and I would sign it from you both.

I would just get a blanket and some nappies and wipes really. I wouldnt spend a fortune and I would sign the card from both of you

I wouldnt spend a huge amount, and personally id just put from LO, but thats just what id do, do whatever feels right for you xx
