I'm a little nervous to insert them! Like how do I do it, and how far up, and how do I know I'm getting far enough up? I've lost so much flexibility recently, I probably wouldn't even be able to reach now that I think about it. And then what do you do about the leakage? And how about the capsule itself, does the heat of your body dissolve the whole thing? I don't want to go for my cervical checks and have the doctor find capsule skin up there! The bath thing I could do but I don't feel like it would be as effective. Help!
While I don't use one on a day when I have a dr's appointment, I have gone into labor on a night when I had inserted one like 3 hours earlier, and nobody found it! The capsule had already dissolved. Yes, the heat of your body dissolves it. I insert 1 as high up as it will go (or as high as I can reach) and when it dissolves, the liquid goes all over in there, so you don't have to worry if you can't get it up high. I do this RIGHT before bed and put a pad on for protection, but it doesn't leak out until/unless I stand up, so when I get up to pee in the middle of the night, I can see oil in the toilet, but I know there's still plenty left in there to do the job. For me, when I pee in the middle of the night or in the morning, any and all excess comes out, and I don't have any more leakage.
My doctor loves to recommend EPO vaginally and will use it during a sweep if the patient would like her to. That way, she can get a bit of it into the cervix to help softening and effacement from the inside.
The bath thing is more to help me get "stretchy" and avoid tears. I swear by it, but I could just be naturally "stretchy".
