Evie & Eva - too close?

I asked my OH if he liked the name Eva (pronounced Ee-Vah) & he said yes but it's too close to our friends daughter who is Evie.

He thinks it looks like we'd be trying to copy them however I don't agree. I think they are two stand alone names. What do you think?

Yeah this! I thought you meant for siblings reading the title and that would be weird, but for friends it's fine. Just maybe mention it beforehand so she doesn't feel you stole her name.

Eva and Evie are very similar. In fact, Evie is often a nickname for Eva. My OH and I are considering Eva if we wind up with a girl, and if we do, we'll most likely use Evie as her nickname.

I think that it all depends on how close you are to your friends. If they are very close friends, then I would probably want to lean away naming my daughter Eva - not because I'd be afraid that my friends would think that we were copying them, but because I think that it would be confusing for the girls to have such similar names in what is essentially their family.

Unless the friend is like a family member to you, I wouldn't worry and would use the name.

I think it's fine - unless you think you may use the nickname "Evie" down the road for Eva.

My daughter is Evie and her cousin who we see twice a week and are very close with is Ava. not going to lie I didnt quite think it through and we often get muddled with the names but for a friend I definately would still use it

I agree with the other ladies- too close for siblings but as a friends childs name no I would still use it if I loved it! x
