Hi ladies,

I wasn't sure whether to post this in post-natal or not but thought I'd get a better response

I'll be 7 weeks post op on Tuesday and had my postnatal check up yesterday. They've given me the all clear for exercise but just said take it easy. I do quite a bit of walking already and was just planning on upping my speed a little bit which I know I'll be fine with.

My main question is.. When did you all attempt sit ups? Lol

I'm actually scared to try them but at the same time very eager to try and tone what I can of my stomach!

Any other tips on exercising?

Thanks in advance!

I am almost 10 weeks pp & apart from walks in the park I haven't done any exercise (although I have just signed up at the gym & start next week!).

I am not sure abt sit ups, as any time I have had t use my stomach to get up from the best when lo is lying on me, I have had sore muscles for the next few days (a little painful actually)..

I tried sit ups 8 weeks pp...didn't last long before that fad ended! I've got the motivation of a sloth xx

I think it depends how fit you were before, muscle recognition, I think is what one of my friends called it. She exercised through her entire pregnancy (as in jogging up til her 36th week) and she was able to do sit ups and crunches after her doctor gave her the clear. Me, I tried 3 months pp and I was in horrible pain. I felt like I was going to rip open, but I was also over weight and hardly did any sit ups beforehand. I recommend to start with planks and work your way up. It is the easiest way to build up your core and not squish your middle while doing so. Best of luck! Take it easy and listen to your body :)
