So I think post-natal care / advice is very much lacking in the uk regarding what you should and shouldnt do after a c-section in my experience. All I've been told is not to overdo it. It's all a bit vague. I had my section 10 weeks ago and feel great. I walk lots everyday but don't know whether I am supposed to avoid jogging or dancing or high impact aerobics like I was doing before. What have you been advised about exercise and what time frames? I don't want to ruin my insides!

Thanks guys

I will be stalking this thread! I had my section 8 weeks ago, still haven't had my post natal check yet so haven't had a chance to ask my doctor, but like you I feel great and have also been doing lots of walking! I agree with lack of aftercare, I haven't been advised on anything to do with healing etc..

Everything I heard after my c-section was that you can resume normal activity including regular aerobic exercise 6 weeks after surgery. I was feeling OK at that point, but I didn't do more than walk until about 12 weeks because I was scared and didn't have a follow up appointment until 10 weeks (I bled for an extremely long time).

Take it really easy and probably don't jump into doing sit-ups and whatnot! :)

As pp said I was told you can carry on as before 6 weeks post surgery if you feel up to it and have been given the all clear with your check. I've resumed exercise (when I sat resumed I mean from pre pregnancy haha, I had a bit of a lazy pregnancy towards the end) and I'm 8 weeks pp

Xx

I was back in the gym just after 4 weeks (after I was signed off by my GP). It was very gentle and all non-impact stuff though, like static bike and cross trainer. I was in the gym right up until the day I had him though (at 35+5) so had a good base start x
