Exercise?

Can anyone shed any light on exercise during first trimester? I'm approx 5 wks only and usually do ballet and vinyasa or Ashtanga yoga. I'm reading conflicting info regarding exercise at this time. Obviously I understand tht I'd have to tone down such dynamic yoga practices anyway, but right now I'm a little cautious at doing anything until second trimester but I'm feeling like an idle cow already!!!
Thanks

Ahhhhhh you got your BFP!!!!!!! Hurray!! Congrats hun :)

Apparently light exercise is totally fine and good for you and baby in first try, just don't go running a marathon or skydiving
Xx

I know finally!!!!!! Arrrrrgggggghhhh! All down to soy! Thank you soooooo much for telling me all about, I owe you big time!
I'm sooo knackered though, but I feel like I gotta do something! Xxx

Soy is like a miracle tablet in my eyes haha. I am so pleased for you :)
Yeah the being tired all the time is rather annoying, I got better around 9 week and then at about 10+2 it started all over again haha. I spoke to the midwife and she said just do something light and simple like a walk, yoga is great too as long as you don't push too much. I'm off to aquanatal classes once I hit 14 week as she said it's the best thing to keep active and safe
Xxx

A nice walk it a good form of exercise that's not too strenuous x

Ooooooo aquanatal i like the sound of that! Gonna google it now!! Xx

i used to enjoy jogging but my boods dont let me anymore, now i just swim for half and hour each day

I continued to run on a treadmill 2 times a week until I was about 20 weeks pregnant last time, and continued to do 2-3 spinning classes at the gym until 40 weeks. I am planning on doing the same this time round, I always felt better for exercising, if your body is alrady used to it and your in a safe environment then why not, if its uncomfortable stop! I just listened to my body, sometimes during 1st tri last time I had to just saty in bed lol...never made the 645am spin class--due to sickness! But if I feel o.k then I push on...really helped during the labour to be as fit as I was!

excersice is great as long as you are comfortable. I am a Zumba instructor and I teach 3-4 times a week. My doc said as long as I'm not cramping or of course bleeding then I should continue. Congrats on your baby!!

I'm cramping big time.....it's bloody annoying to say the least but I feel like a whale already......I've sooooooooo gotta get excercising! My body's already going thru shock due to lack of it!

I wouldn;t recommend doing anything you're not used to such as running, not just because of the cramping but also your ligaments loosen in pregnancy and running can put a lot of strain on this x

Ooooooo I'd rather poke needles in my eyes than run! I'll opt for keepin ballet and yoga, thanks for everyone's help!

:haha:

I hear that you should be careful with yoga in the 1st tri too. x

Apparently according to my guru I just need to tone down my practice, after 20yrs of doing it I'd go into withdrawal if I stopped! Lol

My doctor meant cramping as I was doing the activity. I think if your body is used to doing it then you shouldn't have any problems. Just listen to your body and don't push yourself so hard :)
