I've had constant migraines for a year now and am finally figuring out that they're mostly caused by muscle spasms in my neck (from carrying my son). My physical therapist says I have pretty constant horrible spasms all through my neck. I'm finally considering muscle relaxants, and I'm seeing that they're often considered okay for breastfeeding infants, or there's little data.

My son is two. I'm desperate. I'm looking to hear from women who have personal experience in this. Thanks!

I didn't take them on a regular basis, but I hurt my back a few weeks ago and took them for 2 days while exclusively breastfeeding my baby. She seemed totally fine, I was told to watch for her possibly being drowsy/sleeping very deeply but I didn't notice excessive drowsiness at all. My pharmacist said they were 'probably' ok to take while breastfeeding, but there wasn't much research on the subject so it was best only to take them if absolutely necessary and only take the lowest effective dose.

It was a generic brand, but the ingredients were ibuprofen and methocarbamol.

If they are considered generally safe for breastfeeding infants, I would not worry much about a 2 year old.

I take anxiety medication that's is a CNS depressant and I have seen no ill effects in my children. What made me realize I was worrying over nothing was when the doctor mentioned they give the same medication to kids in much larger doses for other conditions.
