Does anyone have experience of expressing for a premie 27weeker.

She is manually trying to express every few hours for her little on but getting nothing from one side, and it is getting quite sore and full.
I have suggested looking at a photo of baby, trying a breast pump, nipple stimulation.

The MW has said for her just to concentrate on just the one side, but i would have thought she should carry on trying with both sides maybe alternating each time.

Any other advice i can pass on would be great.

Im assuming youre referring to Katy? :) Get the neonatal to give her a blanket Sophies been sleeping on, thats what they did for me (and I kept it hahahaha)

I would say just keep alternating though!

Ask the nurses about he breastfeeding clinic ( I think its on every Tuesday downstairs from the neonatal) a lady can come up and help

It sounds like the milk is there though?

If its IS a milk situation - they can give her some Brewers Yeast.

Have the hospital got an electric pump she can use (if she isn't already)?

Massaging the slower boob after applying a hot flannel (firm strokes from armpit to nipple) can sometimes help to move things along.

And she should definitely carry on both sides, if she can.

Wish her luck :flower:

Yes passing on info to her she is still in at the mo.
