My wee man has a varied diet and loves his food and milk but he's on his 2nd cold since Sept. I know it's the time of year for it but would extra vitamin c help him like it helps adults? And if so how could I introduce it into his diet? He doesn't drink juice, only milk and water so orange juice isn't an option.

Any advice would be great appreciated.

Thanks

Generally, I think it's just par for the course. We're on cold #4 at the moment. My daughter started nursery in October and she's always bringing something home now, even though she was never sick once before that. It's just how it is, I think, and honestly the more colds they get, the better it is for their immune systems.

But you could try feeding foods that are higher in vitamin C. We often do orange slices (large orange sliced into manageable chunks) or satsumas/clementimes. Tesco has these 'easy peelers' which are clementimes that are seedless and don't have really tough membranes, so they are easy for babies to eat. My daughter will take the pieces, chew on them so the juices come out and spit out what's left over.

You could also consider supplementing with a baby vitamin drop. I know they often recommend them if you're BF or if you bottle feed and baby drops below about 500 ml a day. Not sure it will help with the colds as I think that's just normal, but can't hurt really.

Dd2 (10 months) likes small pieces of tangerines. Other than that, fruit in general! Cantaloupe is a good option, watermelon, mango, maybe zucchini? Hope he feels better soon! My oldest has a cold too. :(
